I've posted this before but as I still see morons doing this everyday and only Friday gone I was almost killed by some pratt using his phone whilst driving - [ he now has a massive dent in the side of this door where I kicked it to sh1t when I caught up with him at traffic lights - excuse my french ] I think it's time for a reminder.

 

It's shocking yes - but it needs to be to get though to those brain dead morons everywhere.

Had a friend on a bike that would knock the phone out of the eejits hand into the footwell if he went past someone on the phone while driving. Someone told him that he could be had up for causing an accident if the person then had an accident while trying to retrieve the phone. How he laughed at that

 

I've been sorely tempted to do the same or clip their wing mirror with my knee due to them swerving all over the road while chatting but I am not that coordinated so would probably end up worse off. I just get past them as safe as possible, as soon as possible and get away.

I still often honk my horn (it's no normal horn, it's the M&S type of horn - twin air blasters) when I pass/get passed by halfwits on their phone. A girl very nearby got killed whilst texting. It's a stupid thing to do and frankly anyone doing that sort of thing deserves whatever happens as a result. The trouble is with being a jackass on the road (no pun intended) is that unless it's very quiet you'll be very "lucky" not to harm anyone else too.

 

(Yes, honking your horn in this manner can be dangerous. However, I feel that because they are not giving the road their full attention, I am merely making them aware of my presence, which is in fact driving to the letter of the highway code.)

I've been driven into on a crossing by someone who was on their phone at uni. Only at quite low speed (less than 10mph), but it hurt like hell even at that speed.

 

So, I totally agree with mattx on this one.

LOL @ road rage. I would call it a small release of frustration from the law breaker that played with your life.. I think it is totally excusable.

Its shocking isn't it when people don't pay attention to what they are doing. The other day an old lady was paying more attention to talking with her friend in Tescos and crashed into me with her trolley - don't worry though, I gave her a good hiding so hopefully she'll pay more attention next time

Then again, I've had cyclists ride diagonally across me and that is just as frustrating and dangerous - then wonder why you give them a verbal beatdown...

Some old prat on a pushbike gave me a nice dint yesterday... I pulled out of my drive slowly (there's high walls either side), and he flew into the side of my car - he must have been going 20+ on the pavement, on the wrong side of the road :-|. He promptly crossed the road and continued on the right side of the road before I could say anything!

This is the same kind of thing as idiot children on phones/talking/listening to music while crossing the street.

 

The amount of times I've seen them nearly get run down because they've just walked out into traffic without looking is actually quite scary when I realise that, at some point, they'll be driving themselves.

I am revisiting this post because I want to highlight the fact that not all motorcyclists are innocent [obviously]

 

On my drive home tonight a motorcyclist flashed by my car in heavy traffic at high speed barely missing my wing mirror. As he moved past me I was planning to avoid a pothole. If I had done so he would have hit the side if my car and who knows what might have happened?

 

He was going at such speed that neither he nor I could have avoided serious consequences. How did I avoid the collision? I am not sure but when looking in the rear view mirror I saw something in the far distance that caught my eye and caused me to question my move [it might have been his headlight I still can't say] However that slight hesitation on my part probably saved his life and saved me from serious injury [and an expensive repair bill!]

 

Conclusion: It is not always the driver of the car who is at fault!

I was in a traffic queue this morning and everyone moved aside to let through a police car. There was a lot of traffic and the car barely made it between the two rows of cars. Merrily using the police car as a battering ram came a silly little girl on a moped - she wasnt dressed properly and due to the distance between her and the police car she nearly got squashed as cars on both sides started moving back to the centre of their lanes and she got caught as a bus started to move over just as she came past him (I expect she was in his blind spot)

I'm pretty sure old ladies in the supermarket believe they're driving submarines, with erratic course changes, sudden dead stops, zigzags and the occasional crazy ivan to detect if anyone's trying to creep up in their prop wash.

it could be argued that you didnt need to avoid the pothole.

i'm just seeing what its like on the other side of the fence

 

to even it out, it does seem the attitudes a lot of the time are:

car driver sees another car driver act dangerously and thinks he is stupid

car driver sees bike rider act dangerously and thinks he is stupid

 

bike rider sees car driver act dangerously and think it has only happened because he is on a bike and car drivers don't care about them

bike rider sees another bike rider act dangerously and thinks thats what needs to be done because all car drivers are idiots so you have to do these things to avoid them
