Dos_Box Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Scan.co.uk: Microsoft 673-00346, Intelli Ball Mouse, PS2, 2 Buttons, Ivory Does anyone actually use PS2 ball mice anymore? Anyway, not bad at £2.50 a go, if you need them that is
pshuttle Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I bought one of those for use at home. Must have been 1999 perhaps?
DarrenM Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Ahh I remember when Acorn mice were £70, I used to work at a computer dealer and repaired them for £30 an hour!
Dos_Box Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 Ebuyer Bargain :-) Ah, but it's not an Intellimouse is it
Fatmas Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 No, and I would rather spend more and get a mouse that doesn't fall to pieces as soon as I touch it. However if you're buying cheap for family members or as a backup, can't go wrong really!
Fatmas Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 On a related note, I came across an article from 2004 that said this about USB flash drives: "They are everywhere, you can get sizes up to a massive 256mb for as little as £34" I read that as I was copying files to my 8Gb Kingston drive that cost £7.99.
LeMarchand Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 My first flash drive was 32Mb and cost £30-£40 (and is still working!). My friend told me it was a waste of money - I'd never fill it...
K.C.Leblanc Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I have a 3 button Logitech pilot mouse with a 25 serial connector somewhere.
pshuttle Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I still have my horribly boxy, horribly sun-washed Amiga mouse at home....

Anyway, not bad at £2.50 a go, if you need them that is I'd probably buy one out of nostalgia - iconic shape and design - even if the use of one for a couple of years in the late nineties did worsen my carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand.

gshaw Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 My first flash stick was 64MB for £35, still got it somewhere
glennda Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Remember when these were £20 a pop? I think i was 4! circa 95?
Dos_Box Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 I remember having an early USB drive in 2003 and recall one teacher remarking about how they'd never catch on. It was about that time I stopped using my Zip drive. I actually found a Zip disk in the attic the other day and I am a little curious as to what it contains.
pagelad Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 We have zip drives still sealed in sellophane in the cupboard here. Bought way before i started and have never seen the light of day. Anyone want a Zip drive doorstop?
maniac Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 (edited) Somewhere in a box at home I still have one of these: http://api.ning.com/files/Kc4I9NA-hvDf-Op7NZj7AcHD0u7CJImyaonuvNH73mbawZcllRxXAmjRUzhPN2aS0u19TaRmhmquLKlw7T1T6Dy7oIjqF2hy/Original_IBM_PS2.jpg Which belonged to my very first PC, which was one of these http://www.mikewalder.com/mcm/ps2-60.jpg Which had an 80286 processor with a whopping 1MB of RAM and 60Mb HDD. In physical size that hard drive was huge - a full 5 1/4 inchs across and double height! You can get laptop computers smaller than that now with 1000 times the storage! Edited May 5, 2011 by maniac
browolf Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 last time we got some more mice (a regular occurrence) we accidentally got ball mice. No problem just glued them all in like we used to do.
CAM Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Ebuyer Bargain :-) They want six quid for an "installation service!" My computer at home doesn't even have a PS/2 port to plug one of those relics in, neither does my work laptop. I still remember taking the ball out and plucking cat hair out of the rollers though.

The irony. Using your cat as a mouse mat 1
Martin Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Does anyone actually use PS2 ball mice anymore? Anyway, not bad at £2.50 a go, if you need them that is I am actually using one of them at this very moment! My (old) KVM is PS2 only, so it does the job (until i get around to replacing it with my newer USB version). The mouse still works well, although the scroll wheel is too sticky and you end up doing a "button three click" when you try to use it. mb

In secondary school my idea of mass storage until I got the USB stick was a box of 10 floppies in a blazer pocket... how times change
Gatt Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I remember when mice plugged into the COM1 port and the keyboards were the beefy AT connector I'm sure the Motherboards has COM1 & COM2 as well!!
GrumbleDook Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I still have 2 Macs here with ADB keyboards and mice.
mb2k01 Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Zip drives! I remember Jazz drives and LS-120 drives too!
