22 here, been working in education since 17 (part time job as I was doing my a-levels). Ugh...makes me feel old!

29 here I'm feeling surprisingly old due to injuries through Football and Badminton the joints are more like 79 lol In educational IT for 6 years, College and Uni before that.

Just a thought

I can see that those of you who are very young (under 25 or so) are earning a reasonable salary and no doubt most of you don't have mortgages, children etc.

But, thinking of the low salaries paid here even to Network Managers of large comprehensive schools, I cannot see how those of you in your 30's with mortgages and families can possibly manage.

Is it that salaries are particularly bad down here in Dorset, or living costs cheaper elsewhere, or what?

I think I'm on a sensible amount however after reading IT week the average for jobs in IT is 35k I'm certainly not there yet! And the average wage for a Graduate is 28k too many london surveys me thinks!

ICT Technician just under £12k poor but by next jan i will have had over 3 years experience to move on and do better. the beer in the north east is pretty cheap so its not to bad

Well, I'm in my 30's with a somewhat gorgeous 1 year old daughter and on the south coast, admittedly though due to a reasonable stroke of luck on the lottery I bought my house 8 years ago (at a time when they were nicely priced), so I dont have any mortgage overhead which helps, to be honest I dont really have many outgoings and what little outgoings I do have are covered by my remaining bank balance. I tend to use my wages as an "operating" fund for the month and any leftovers go join my existing balance
