  3. it just really depends on what you are going to be managing on a daily basis. If you are looking after computers, you should put in place a hardware maintainance budget so if you need to replace items, you have the money for it... If you are doing printers, the cost of consumables needs to be accounted for, ink, drum, toners etc etc. Development budge for any software that you might want to buy to improve the network. Network hardware, like switches if you are planning on upgrading your core network. but i would def ask for some money, even if in the end you dont need to spend it, you could just get something else from it.   4. i dont know with HP, but can do with Cisco, some form of ACL to only allow port 80 and 443?
  5. go to "SQL Configuration Manager" and then click on protocols for MSSQLSERVER and on the right of the MMC console if you get the TCP/IP Properties and under the IP addresses tab, it tell you what port it is running on. If it is left at default, then it should be 1433

  7. can you not just apply the gpo to and ou full of computers and this will have the same effect? therefore any user that logs into a machine which has user settings configured as part of the GPO will apply
  8. are you lookin for the software as central management of the camera's i thought these all came with a built in web server where you could view them in a browser.
  9. im out of touch with what year, year 5 is but have you thought about simple SQL queries, so select all rows, and then add some conditions in, using where. Just so they get an idea on how to filter results

Sounds quite expensive.... its a good job that its one of the directors that wants it where im working, so its up to him to work out the costing etc. Thanks for you feedback, and i will check out ebay and see what i can find!   12. Hi All I was just wondering does anyones use theses as devices supplied by work of personal? What i wanted to know was how does the costing and contacts work, and do you need to have an blackberry enterprise server for the device to pick up work email? Ive just been looking and also is it possible to get one without a phone contract? Cheers N

  14. Does anyone know if you are able to do a LAMP server on the standard edition of the new Ubuntu, and if you would someone be able to point me in the right direction. Everywhere ive googled on the net references the server edition. Do you still get the GUI with the server edition, im all very new to this, so still trying to get use the CLI. Thanks N
  15. I had this at my previous job and i tried to get the drivers from fuji-s web site. Im not 100% of all the details as it has been a while and i have moved jobs aswell. In the bios there is some intel related option that you can disable and this allowed XP to see the HDD. Sorry i cant be of any more use. N

  19. Hi Guys I was just wondering if anyone knew or had come across a linux app that will convert office 2007 file (docx, pptx, xlsx) to work with Open Office? Ive come across some sites which will strip out things from a docx file but nothing on any of the other file types. Cheers N

  21. like Plexer said, you should be able to just ring Orange up and ask them, they will either give you a code or send you a Sim Update which will do it for you. They might ask for a fee, so might be worth just checking price from shops.

  25. you could try celler systems and the otherone is caretower. I dont have any contacts for these places, but i know we do our big AV(McAfee) renewals via them
