Dos_Box Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I've tried to like him...briefly, but ultimately cannot. After I found out he went to stage school that sort of swung it as I suddenly saw all the Ben Elton-isms and the other traits he's stolen from more talented comedians. I now just find him annoying in a 'wanting-to-be-edgy-but-trying-too-hard' kind of way. More of a ranting goth poseur.
Elky Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I think he's just annoying but I've heard from a couple of people that have been to watch him in stand-up that he's in fact very funny. I don't believe them Jimmy Carr on the other hand - going to see in Saturday. Now he IS very funny in my opinion
Norphy Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I found him quite funny on the Big Fat Quiz of 2006 but ultimately I think he's just annoying.
Simcfc73 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I want to dislike him but I think he can be funnt sometimes. Kind of like I want to hate Lilly Allen but I end up humming some of her song. Off to see Ricky Gervais on Friday night. I thought Animals was very funny but hated Politics. hope I am not offended
bossman Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Just this minute finished discussing his virtues with a teacher colleague who went to see him last night. He is very sexual in his aproach to the female audience who i am told, lap it up because he is so upfront about it. He is also very funny so my colleague tells me.
Elky Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Off to see Ricky Gervais on Friday night. I thought Animals was very funny but hated Politics. Tickets went on sale for Gervais in Portsmouth for 12th April yesterday at 10am. I didnt manage to get any after trying for hours before it sold out. One thing I did notice though was at 10:05, there was a selling form Manchester on Ebay selling 6 of them for about £75 each (normal price £25) Oh the joys of touts
Simcfc73 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I got mine for Sheffield at 10.05 on the morning. I think it was Ticketmaster or someone who were selling them and it wouldn't let me on but I managed to find my way directly onto the Sheffield City Hall website and pick my tickets for the 3rd row. I paid for them and was tempted to get some more but decided against it with Xmas coming up. I went back in 5 minutes later and the best seats available were in row X near the back.
sidewinder Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Im a big fan, always found him hilarious I seem to be in a small minority though
tom_newton Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I've thought long and hard about it, the man's a tosser
steve Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I've thought long and hard about it, the man's a tosser Agreed!
Elky Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 and whats the deal with his hair do and those leggings?
mullet_man Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Went to see him last month at Opera House in Manchester, and he was very funny, always liked him on Big Brothers Big Mouth as well.
Heebeejeebee Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I've thought long and hard about it, the man's a tosser Another vote from me. HBJB
meastaugh1 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Im a big fan, always found him hilarious I seem to be in a small minority though A vote for Russell here.
GrumbleDook Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Grotty bloke who needs to wind his neck in. What the fsck is his fascination in screaming about the antics of his genitalia. I love BB and BBLB ... but BBBM was crap. No interest in his stand-up stuff really ... caught a bit of it last year on video (bootleg) and it was naff ... give me Phil Jupitus anyday.
Guest metalmonkey Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Russell Brand is just weird. I didn't realise Jimmy Carr was a commedian. I've only ever seen him hosting the worlds top 100 TV series. (channel hopping you understand...)

(channel hopping you understand...) Seen one of his DVDs - very funny man. Can't wait to see him live on Saturday
john Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Absolutely hate Russel Brand (i prefer working and the worst kids at school more than him!) But Love Jimmy Carr, Jimmy's ace, great humor, but he does seem a big repetitive on his DVDs, ive got 2 of them and they are fairly similar in content, just in a different order.
sidewinder Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Jimmy Carr used to be funny...now I just find him a [email protected]lly up himself
witch Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 This females viewpoint: RB and JC complete sexist tossers. RB biggest poser I have ever seen. Give me Bill Bailey or Phil Jupitus any day
Jake Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I would have to say, not funny...utterly not funny. Monty Python = Hilarious Ross Noble = Best stage comedian at the moment (in my opinion ) A bit of Fry and Laurie = comedy classic Russell Brand = Nothing funny about behaving like a 10 year old in the playground and saying various rude conotated words like titty and willy
tom_newton Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 @Jake - I saw Ross Noble a few years back at the Leeds Grand - I thought he was fantastic, one of the best impromptu q&a/heckling sessions I have seen!
Elky Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Bill Bailey - superb Monty Python - genius. Life of Brian - best film of all time
Lee_K_81 Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I know it's not *true* but there has to be some relation to Jo Brand! There is far too resemblance for them not to be realted. Maybe they're the long lost children of Billy Connolly. It might explain a thing or two!
