I'm wondering what suppliers you recommend for patch cables? We need some cables around 0.3 m and 0.5m (not sure if any smaller)

We are trying to colour code some of our patch panels in our cabs so its easy to identify what goes where so a few good colour options would be nice..........!

Thom: Ours used to be the same  We don't change that much stuff now though so it still looks neat :)

Webman, i notice from your gallary you have some Buffalo Terrastations. Been looking at them as they seem a cost effective (read: cheap) NAS solution. They any good? Sorry to wander off topic.

Hi Lee. Yes they're not bad ... there's a thread on here somewhere about the time we got them. We had one died after a power surge but was replaced rather quickly. There's a community built up around them with custom firmware available, but we've just stuck with the official one and integrated into AD nicely.

I don't know how they'd react to that, we just use them for backups at the moment. We do plan to use them in a more 'high-traffic' environment soon though.

Making cables is not fun, the last one I did started at 2m and ended up 6 inches!!

Next time start at 5m and you may get there..... :-)

I know its a pain when you stick it on the test meter and its not right, but with some pratice.......

we get pupils to make them, and they test them too.

Out of about 100 made only one was bad,

teamwork is the way forward!

I've just ordered a load from http://www.comms-express.com/

75 x 1m grey plus some 2m and extra green ones for printers and a 20m bright Orange one!

If I had the time I'd love to buy a colour for each one of our main IT Rooms and colour code the Patch Cabinet so when I walked in I could see instantly what was for where. But for now that's just limited to servers and printers.
