Server Names? What next!

Still like my Spiceworks server name - Dune

Now I'm tempted to rename our spiceworks server....hmmm

simple solution, SRV-EXCHANGE runs anti virus, SRV-DC runs exchange and SRV-AV is a domain controller

I used to have servers called Morpheus, Neo, Trinity, Cypher, Oracle, Ghost, Architect... then a change of management spoiled my fun

Wouldn't be able to name them fun names where i work, people i work with are bad enough for forgetting where things are or what things are called so we just go by what the server does to make it easier on their frail old minds:

FS1

ABLOCK_DC

Terminalserv01

and so on..

 

Only fun name we do have is casper - used to be the ghost server but now it's windows deployment services

Our servers are a little bit like that. We once had a test server called 'Shibby', I think that ran some sort of Edexcel thing!

I did mine as the Simpsons.

 

Homer - the big guy who holds everyhting together (Hyper-v Host)

Marge - Does all the work (Sims Server)

Lisa - Small but smart and knows alot (second DC)

Bart - Annoying but neccesary (DPM backup)

 

The rest are just old names that I won't name until I upgrade them.
