Guest theeldergeek Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 The laptop in the article on the BBC web site here BBC News - Introducing UK broadband's first customer, 10 years on looks massive! I can see it has a full size keyboard on it - what make is it?
featured_spectre Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 that cant be right surely. My mum has had broadband since 1998 with BT (and we have the bills to back it up!).... As for the laptop, It looks like a large toshiba...either that or they are just incredibly small.
sted Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 in was going to say hp looks a bit like mine and that has an almost fullsized keyboard and num pad but it may be a tosh judging by the silver base
sparkeh Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Yeah I thought that until I realised that the laptop is normal sized and they are just very small people. 1
creese Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Looks a lot like my Tosh Satellite Pro. 17" Only the sound connectors are on the front of mine.
creese Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Yeah I thought that until I realised that the laptop is normal sized and they are just very small people. Putting my hand where his is and it fits. I'm not small!
sippo Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 The Bush family also chat together on social networking site Facebook when they are not in the same room. Is it just me, or is that kind of sad? Its a shame you can speak to your own kids when they're in the same house.
creese Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Is it just me, or is that kind of sad? Its a shame you can speak to your own kids when they're in the same house. I'm sad the I txt the 'Mrs', I facebook her and also email. All for a variety of reasons. One being I rarely shout.

danrhodes Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Is it bad that I quite like the look of that? Yes it's bad as the origional startere price was about 4k when it was released. The head got a B*ll*cking for buying it!
Mcshammer_dj Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 "But we have the internet in common... without it I would probably see less of my kids." what a sad way to live. I would think that it might be better for this lot to lose the intyernet and try actually doing stuff together

Butters Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I thought that it was available around 98-99 too in limited areas Maybe the first NTL/Virgin customer but certainly not the UK's first I dont reckon I had Cable & Wireless broadband in 1998, soon to become NTL.
Guest theeldergeek Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Looks like a 17" laptop and the camera angle makes it look bigger. Maybe a Studio 17. I thought it might be a camera angle thing going on, but if you look at the position of his hands, and where they are placed, there is definitely a considerable amount of laptop to the right of his closest hand. I have a Dell 17 XPS, and if I position my hands the same as in the picture, I've nowhere near the same amount of space left on the chassis.
Guest theeldergeek Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 That's not a big laptop check out this moster a Head used to have at my old school. Dell XPS M2010 Product Details | Dell I nearly bought one of those, but my wife decided I should get the XPS M1710 instead....
googlemad Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I remember the first days of my 512k broadband back in 2001. Now I'm complaining about 10mb being too slow, although Virgin traffic shaping doesn't help
Dos_Box Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Shaun says its a. HP like his, and his is HUGE! We don't have the model number to hands as we are in a steakhouse in Holborn!
