john Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 @Ric, why not make some DIY Hazard tape, far more fun
webman Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Yeah, surey the art department have the appropriate black and yellow paint you can apply to some duct tape?
linuxgirlie Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Oh, mine tends to be pretty clean, maybe too tidy, people actually comment on it when they visit...lol! I have cupboards and shelves, apparently according to the students it use to be part of a classroom, that got converted, it does get messy with big orders or if my student techies make a mess! hmmm, just looked up from laptop and it looks like it needs a bit of a tidy Jo
sidewinder Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Ours is messy but workable I cant stand things cluttering the floor so thats one area thats clear We dont have nearly enough workbench space though so in between all our PC's are various laptops and PC's we are imaging/fixing Also we only have one cupboard outside of the room. Everything else has to be stored in our office. Roughly 15 foot square for the spares and storage for an 800 computer network. What annoys me most is that we USED to have more but it was taken away because a teacher needed a cupboard
Midget Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Is pete the bloke that didn't do any work that indiegirl spent all that time complaining about? Appart from a few piles of PCs my office is pretty tidy. Yay for cupboards.
pete Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 Gah thread resurrection.... Is pete the bloke that didn't do any work that indiegirl spent all that time complaining about? *clips midgets ear* Not, the "indiegirl option" is there because when I was doing the poll I remembered how indiegirl moaned about her boss being pathalogically untidy, in contrast to her. I'm untidy, but I'm not that bad.
witch Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 So.... so far the females are generally tidy, and the males are generally not.... yes, my server room/office is tidy. I don't have any cupboards, only shelves. Let's hear it from the other females on this forum - tidy..or not? It is silly to say that being tidy means you don't have enough to do - if you have a place for everything it is just as quick to put it there as to throw it down anywhere. And if it isn't then your storage system needs sorting out. How long does it take you to find something if you have no idea where it is? I know where everything (including my towel) is. (most of the time!)
localzuk Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I have an office which is about 8' long by 3' wide. It has a worktop that runs nearly its length, so much so that the door doesn't fully open. It used to have the servers in it - but they have now been relocated to a cupboard under the stairs, but I still have a full rack cabinet in there... I did a big tidy at the beginning of the school year and within 3 days it was a tip again. I can honestly say that it isn't me doing it - even though I am the only person who works in there. It is all the staff coming and borrowing stuff and not returning it to where they got it from. They just dump it in a heap. I will admit that paperwork does take a very low priority in my view. I just pile it up and blitz it every couple of weeks. Right now, on my 2' wide bit of floor, I have a giant chassis switch, 2 empty canon XM2 camera boxes and some other junk. It takes skill to navigate to my chair. I keep on asking for a bigger office but there is not much space around so it doesn't look likely. I have been told though that if I can tidy my office and keep it tidy for a week then my boss will look harder at sorting out a proper office for me
amyr Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 well my *office/suite* is fairly tidy apart from the cupboard where everything including the server is stored which is semi-tidy - I can find most things but there's also a huge pile on the floor that needs sorting as well as on the top shelves but i can't reach the top shelves! so that's not going to get sorted anytime soon. my desk is tiny but that's untidy...and there's loads of boxes under the computer desks/iwb....i'm still dreaming of them building a proper ict suite!
projector1 Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 http://www.edugeek.net/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=8310 our old office v new one!
alonebfg Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 mine is an old kiln room and the kiln is still there (not used) but two of us work in there and not enough room to swing a cat mouse (just enough room to put me edugeek mug on the desk) but i keep meaning to tidy up.
acrobson Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 We have this thing made from palster board on four sides and a door on one of em, with 6 servers in, the helpdesk and the Aircon unit which is set to a constant 13C, it is blumming freezing and noisy, we have asked for a new office, however management are typical management when it comes to ICT. We had a look at recycling costs for disposal as well under the WEEE convention, at present we were quoted an average of £5 a printer (Laser) £10 a CRT £8 (TFT) and £7 per base unit. It gonna be expensive!
localzuk Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 our office is state of the art My office is state of emergency!
Sirbendy Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 At this moment, I'm drowning in boxes and junk. Usually fairly clean, but I'm reaching my patience limit and eyeing the window.
