I'm doing things a little differently. Aim to compete at either my current kickboxing discipline (Sanda) or as yet undiscovered MA following my 'retirement' from years of TMA training. Top end of middleweight is 185lbs, currently up to 180-ish lbs from a lean weight of 155lbs two years ago. Not especially lean atm but abs visible. Stand 6' tall. Put on 5lbs lean mass naturally (I estimate) since January. Run 3 miles 3 or 4 times a week, weight training 3 times a week either 1-2 split routine or 5x5 split training. Trained down the dojo (until my cold) 3 hours a week and kickboxing 2 hours a week on and off. Bench is up to 77.5kg for 5 reps, probably around 85kg max but I hate 1 rep to failure sets as it's easy for form to slide. Can't complain, though recently a cold and WEEKS of feeling nasty put me out. Just back up to it.

Agh! Can never seem to find the time to sit down and learn these things. Only one on the helpdesk today and need something sorted as soon as I can ideally. Have my cap in hand, as usual extremely grateful to anyone who can help me out. I need a vbs script (or batch file) to run on machines at startup (set through GP) to look for a folder in Program Files on all my client machines and if a certain folder is there, to set an AD group to Deny all. For example, if the folder c:\Program Files\ferrets is found on a client computer, I'd like the permissions of c:\Program Files\ferrets and all subfolders and files to be set to Deny all for the group mydomain/students. Anyone feeling helpful and can spoonfeed me this one? Huge thanks for reading. And no there's no ferrets loose. Well if there are they're not in the helpdesk.

Hi folks - despite all the related topics and some time Googling, I'm still really at a loss writing a script (or maybe even a batch file?) to rename a folder on client machines. I'd like to set a startup script through GP to rename a folder (eg C:\Program Files\sausages) if it finds on the client machine. I tried (please don't laugh... too hard...) the following: if exist "c:\Program Files\sausages.gone" goto :EOF if exist "c:\Program Files\sausages.com" rename "c:\Program Files\sausages.com" sausages.gone @echo Job Run Literally no idea what I'm doing. And do I go with vbs script or batch file for this you think? Any help greatly appreciated. And no there's no sausages on the network.

Late to the party, but Redbush tea tasted horrid I thought. Was off caffeine for a couple of months last year. The only 100% convincing caffeine-free tea was Twining's caffeine free Earl Grey.

Haha thanks all. Unfortunately it's a management issue that's now slithering its way to being made my problem. Our SIMS admin can and does tell by email daily, but incase it turns into being my headache I'd like to have an idea up my sleeve sorta thing.

Hi all - title says it all really. Is there any plugin available for SIMS which would allow me to lock a teacher's screen, freeze it, make it fire acid or flames or make life otherwise inconvenient for them if a register wasn't taken at the beginning of the lesson? I think I recall hearing of something like this and I had a google but nothing decent found. Anyone heard of anything like this?

Gah I dunno what you're worried about brah you'll be FINE! It WON'T be as bad as any of those Microsoft exams. You ever take any of those? Jeez to get my MCDST I had to answer ALL SORTS of silly nonsense... SOMETIMES there's TWO right answers to get you from A to B, you've just gotta remember the "Microsoft way" to do it. Those tests are smelly for sure, these tests won't phase you with the experience you've got I promise. I'll eat my hat otherwise. Honestly though, and forgetting you're nervous or doubting yourself for a second, what DO you know now about supporting a network in detail, in a day-to-day capacity or in overview? My previous boss admitted he really sucked in his technical test at his interview, but just said "My experience should speak for itself, I don't do well in written tests" and HE got the job! Admittedly, that might not work every time but it worked for him, and I can guarantee you he did better than the guy who got up AND LITERALLY RAN AWAY during his test! Remember you're not a computer yourself and you have a personality, so they'll look for that also. Remember to take that with you as well as the CV and the head full of MS Office troubleshooting guides or whatever.

All of the above really, not much more to add. The tests I've done and set for people have multiple choise answers, a couple of 'personality' questions ("Who was the best singer with The Misfits?" "Is Star Trek any good?" - all the selectable answers being "No" for that one.) I usually set one question at the end with "Describe how you would troubleshoot the following issue..." either about a website not loading or a printer not printing just to see a candidate's troubleshooting and thought process. If you get one of those don't expect to find the answer outright, just note down what you'd check for and look through. Advice would be not to panic and read everything on your written test! It's not designed to catch you out so much as see if you're up to beginning on your career - we don't need a double MCSE or triple CCNA to come in and diagnose WSUS and IIS issues from day 1 (or even day 100!) but someone who's keen to learn about things in the future whilst making themselves useful. If you have a degree and some relevant experience it looks good for you.

DAMMIT I've forgotten where this option is. I want to set everything in the entire domain to sync with BST (as is normal I'd guess!) Tried it out the other day having found the option, seemed to do *something* but users are complaining the clock's even faster now than it was before and for the life of me I can't find where the setting is, nor is my Google-fu strong enough today to dig it up. Anyone feel like throwing me a lifeline here? If you've got *hurr* the time to? *hurrr!*

Anyone out there use F_Secure or have any experience of it? Our uni used to run it, would be interested to find out if it's worth a punt...

In my time as NM I've hired three technicians (even fired one!) Do remember to 'tailor' it for each job and remember to sell yourself! If you have a 'stock' CV you can knock up, email that to yourself/hotmail it or keep it on your phone just incase you're in town and see that perfect job advertised in a window, then you've always got a CV to hand. Should have a minute or two over the coming week so I'll get back to you but it may not be super-quick.

Hi folks! New technician has started here, and he's giving some thought to buying a motorbike seeing as how cars are so expensive. He has a full license having grown up and taken his test in Nepal, but nothing formal here. Does anyone know where we might start finding out how to get him on the road here and what's involved? Hi again - don't mean to be a pest, just bumping incase a benevolent passing IIS wizard is watching. I'd like to get to grips with things myself and not keep posting things which might be obvious but are just getting me stuck on occasion, but as far as issues go I've only got one now right at the beginning. Trying to set up an intranet site on my IIS server which is also my WSUS server. All the tutorials out there I've read say to instantly disable the default website in IIS but if I do that I can't view the WSUS console in the MMC. I've changed the port for the default site also for the sake of using WSUS on a different port rather than 80. Long and the short is want to set up an intranet, but not really any idea what I'm doing from now on with the default website still going, no real understanding of IIS. What do Edugeek?

That was quick FN! Primarily, learn something new. Close second is to get us an intranet set up here as we don't have one currently. I'm absolutely overwhelmed with work during the day but I'm keen to get to grips with something that rears its head occasionally but which I've very little knowledge of directly only as an accessory to, say, WSUS. Thought the intranet project was an ideal way to start but I'm not really picking up a whole lot from the YouTube videos I've seen and bitsand pieces I've read, and tinkering with something I'm not fully sure I'm confident with is putting me off at the moment. Any ideas on where to look and what to read up on? And it's going to sound VERY SILLY but I'd like to get to grips with IIS 6 first off.
