Hi guys,

We will be moving the sever cabinet and airconditioning system form my office this febuary half term. it will be moved to a room that will remain locked and will hardly have many visits from my self.

My boss has asked me to do a Disaster recovery plan (new to the job) as we dont have one in place.

I'm reading up on it... we tick all the box's but one thing we dont have as its never apeared to be needed is a enviroment monitoring system.

I need something that will monitor air tempreture, flodding and text no less than 3 mobile phones.

suggestions and comment most welcome. would like to hear of experiences and what people have implemented.

cheers gang

I send my junior techie in for 10 mins - if he comes out blue it's cool enough, red - it's too warm.

Upgrade him to v2 to unlock the following features:

Damp feet = aircon leak.

Excessive coughing = fire.

I've looked at the Interseptor on there but also just noticed today the AVTech room alert.

For the following:

AVTech Room Alert, includes 1 built in temp probe and 1 external probe

Flood sensor

Smoke Sensor

Light Stack, audible and visual warning of fault.

comes in at: £662.50

You know those units look identical to the CliMate units. I suspect they come from the same source and get a different badge stuck on them :p

Never looked at the CliMate kit, but the Goose stuff always seems to be the best price/features mix. Lots of US sysadmins on other boards swear by them.

None at the minute. Was looking at one of the NetBotz units when we've got money though.

I especially like how you can attach this to it

APC Alarm Beacon

Obviously I dont want anything going wrong, but a beacon flashing in the office would be quite cool :D

Actually the Climate CM-2 does look rather good. That and a water sensor under the air con units would be good for our server room I think

I like the APC card, simply because it can initiate shutdowns if the temperature gets too high. Monitoring solutions are ok, but if you have no easy access to the site in an emergency then it's nice to have something happen in your absence!

Which version do I need for testing the Halon system?

Aah, Sir will be wanting our new and exciting "trip over the corpse in the server room" module. Also very good for testing auto-shutting bulkheads for fire suppression, even if I do say so myself.

Oh? I thought it was the "the student that no one wants in the school but can't find a valid excuse to get rid of" module... Although by the sounds of it, this could be a sub module of your suggestion.... :p

Just bought a CM-2 Climate for us too. Damned good.

Going to fit the anti-intrusion to it, and we have an Axis Camera too that looks like it'll work with it.

CM-2 will be set for buzzer and mail, also will be fitting the damp kit to it as the Airedales in there are not something I'd like to leak under the floor.

Luckily our office is joined to the server room, seperated by some soundproofed doubleglazed doors..so we're close to hand if needed.

Is it fire proof?

Im in the market for some of these. Need one for each server room. Want something that will do SMS notification, Camera CCTV, and climate stuff..

Although we dont have APC UPS's , the APC NetBotz ones look good, got APC coming in tomorrow to give the lowdown..

Anything else I should be looking at?
