after reading the thread by @ictsm i was wondering what time you all start?

 

i get paid about 8-4 (never been told my hours officially but i think it works out this way). sometimes end up making the call to down stairs to ask if the school is open late (past 6) if im busy.

I am contracted for 36 hours a week - usually in for 7am and out for about 4pm

General rule is as long as lessons are covered and we meet the 36 hours a week - we can start/finish when we want..

Though I usuall;y end up Remoting in from home - but they wont give the the OT for it

My hours are 8.45 till 5pm. I usually start between 8 and 9 and finished between 4 and 5 or have a longer dinner break.

normal hours - my start time is 8:30am Mon to Fri; end time 5pm Mon to Thu, 4:30 on Fri. Employed Term Time + 2

 

When there's an urgent message for the website such as snow closure, call may come in at 5:45am to do remote connection rather than pop in. I usually pop along to some evening events to take photos.

 

These hours are a lot less than I used to work in industry.

We work 8am to 4pm Mon-Thu, 3:30pm finish on a Friday. 30 mins lunch break each day

 

My philosophy now is .... if my time is not worth paying for, I don't give it.......having said that, I try to be flexible & will occasionally start a little earlier or leave a bit later, but I try to stick rigidly to the number of hours I am contracted to do. If asked by SMT, I will stay late to support a parents evening by negotiating time off in lieu.

 

 

I don't use remote access either. I don't expect to be called at home and the school does not have my mobile number as they make no contribution towards its provision.

Officially: 8.30 -> 4.15 here (Mon-Thurs) 4.00pm on Fridays.

 

In reality: 8.00 -> 4.40 usually, and sometimes it's pushing 8 or later when I'm leaving. Overtime is not paid in wages, but evening work officially in time in leiu... most of the extra work though I don't keep a strict record of so I summarise it and take off as extra during school holidays - probably should start keeping a record as I'm sure I'm short changing myself!

On one job description saying 7:30 start and another saying 8 or somthing.

 

I work my hours as and when - try to get in for the times stated, but sometimes i do remote work and come in later the next day. It's a bit hard to do alot of server work while school is in full flow. I guess alot of us do this.

8-4 Monday toThursday and 8-3.30 Friday. I do not do extra hours as they will not pay OT and sorry but goodwill or time in lieu does not pay my rent.

i have had to stay here before i had the net at new house, i was told to fill in a form, never bothered tho. the problem is its hard to measure time when at home as im usually cooking/keeping the gf happy at the same time, and generally have a beer in hand too. i think heads think of us like teaching staff who are paid to work at home/out of school hours.

 

i just wish i could start at 10 lol wouldnt mind finishing later i just hate mornings (esp when ill lol)

8:30am-4:30pm, 1 hour lunch; oh, and 10 weeks holiday!

 

I will sometimes start early (I get in a bit early as I drop Mrs Enjay off first) or work a bit late, but this flexibility is "repaid" elsewhere. It did take a bit of time to get people to stop pouncing on me during lunch breaks, but now I only get quick or urgent questions.

 

I certainly don't go for the number of free hours that many of you are giving - if I can't do my job in the working hours available, that isn't completely my problem.

I am asked to be in the school for 8 and after that it is usually up to me what time I leave as it depends on the workload.

 

helpdesk is monitored 24/7/365 through various mediums plus remote access engaged when necessary (virtually never needed) and the Staff and SMT really appreciate the service.

 

The way I look at it is the service which my team and I give is way beyond anything a managed service unit could give for the money involved and I just believe in giving such a service, SMT recognise this and respect the amount of effort and time it takes to sustain this service and so give it their full attention when drawing up the budgets.

 

Even if BSF takes us over we as a team will know in our own minds that we have done an exceptional job to date and I would like at this moment to thank my team personally for the effort they put in, so thank you Webman aka Craig (Senior Technician) and Tallan (Junior Technician) well done. :)

when i first started i was working 8:30 to 5.

 

when they hired an additional tech we had our hours reviewed and staggered.

 

most days i make a point to leave on time.

 

i will sometimes stay behind past five to complete a task so i dont have to worry about it the next morning and not log it as OT.

 

i've been encouraged by my manager to count any out of hours work as time in lieu and as a result i currently have 22 hours from last year to take!

Roughly how many hours are you giving the school in exchange for the £15.99/month? I don't mean to sound like an uncommitted jobsworth, as I'm anything but, but equally we shouldn't permit our employers to have a total laugh with what we're willing to give them for free.

I cant agree with this statement strongly enough. If the work you are doing cant be done in the time given then it's a workload problem. This can be solved with either more staff(unlikely), setting up procedures to limit time wasted on non essential problems, or just educating staff of unrealistic deadlines.

 

I'm happy to be flexible with working so if I work late, I can come in later in the morning. I find this is a nicer way to work without striuct deadlines, but then I seem to be lucky in a sense that as long as the work gets done their happy. But I wouldn't continue to do extra hours because their is work outstanding, that is left for tomorrow:p Official hours 8.30-5pm

One week i do 8-4 the next 7.30-3.30 and the other tech is the other way round. Although in reality im here till gone 5 sometimes.

I'm in at 6.15am and try to get away for 3.30pm. I find that, in the 1.5 hours before staff get if, I can do what would take all day otherwise.

My hours are 8-4 Mon-Thurs, 8-3:30 Friday. Typically get in for 7:30 though, 'cos it's easier to get in rooms and move equipment about when there are fewer staff in giving it 'Oh, have you got a second?'. Out the door promptly at the end of the day, though!

 

We have no set arrangement for OT and we usually get it as time off in lieu, but we sometimes have to 'barter' for it; they like it to suit the school, not us. We don't do OT for evening events/parents evening etc unless we've been asked more than 24hours before the event. ...But as I'm only junior staff, there's not much call for OT for me.

I have never really discussed hours with any of my schools to be honest.

Generally I like to be in between 8-8.30 and leave 4-4.30 arriving earlier/leaving later depending on what I've got on.
