RichB Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Afternoon all, I have a tutor that had a corrupt usb stick, I have recovered her files but a few of the Word files (2003) are corrupt! I have used some software on the net that recovers the first paragragh for me, so I know it can be recovered, but it costs another $399 to get the rest!!!! Is there any software out there that will do the whole document for free? and if so can you send me a link. Thanks -edit- and used the repair function, open office saving as a HTLM file...
bossman Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 @RichB: Are they confidential files? If not would you like to send them to me as I have various recovery tools at my disposal and would love to help you out if at all possible. Just PM me for E-mail address if you want to go ahead. 1
sonic1485 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Try opening them up in wordpad or notepad. It may look like gobbledy gook to start with but somewhere in there should be the original text. It might not work if there was tables or pictures in though. 1

mpe Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Is there any software out there that will do the whole document for free? and if so can you send me a If it's just the files which are corrupt then OpenOffice.org will open quite a lot of MS Office files which MS Office refuses to touch.
MYK-IT Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Another vote for OpenOffice. It usually handles corrupt office documents better than office itself!.
