Right, nearly there now, I've had deploy studio setup for some time now, but due to other problems, haven't got round to setting up any work flows. I've created two 1. Take image of OSX partition 2. Restore image of OSX Partition. I have added said computer i want to run the workflow 1. Take image of OSX partition on, but where in deploy studio to i apply 1. Take image of OSX partition to said machine and make it run??

Yes we are, the windows side was working fine on the network, until we bound the macs then, once bound, the macs worked fine and the windows side did not. I made the mistake of adding them both as imac001, now i have named them like imac001osx and imac001win, I'm guessing the damage has been done to the computer account in AD? i have unbound the macs, and locally logged in to windows and rejoined them to the network, which has resolved the issue, just wanted to know what having them both the same does, so i know what went wrong, just for my own curiosity

Hi, I have a iMac that is dual boot, the windows partition was built on the network, and yesterday i bound the mac side to AD, and the mac side works fine, logging in etc, but since I've done it, the windows xp partition won't login, saying the domain controller is unavailable, or offline, or the computer account doesn't exist. I've checked the computer account is still there, so looking at why adding mac side to ad, has destroyed the windows bind Any ideas??

Lion server is the first mac server os i have ever used, so i just took it as everything that is there was on older versions of the OS, until i finally saw snow leopard server, and then you realise how much is missing. create shares don't seem to have as many options, or maybe there just hidden, either way, it makes life more difficult

I have no idea why, its just what everyone i know you has a mac network has told me, so never attempted to try at doing it over the network, i guess iMovie, likes to move and play with a lot of massive files, storing hours of footage, would be a huge drain on the network to get 30 users actively using iMovie over the network.

is there any reason you couldn't turn force home profile off though? then there is only the network locations that can be saved to, but you do still have to drag them to the sidebar if you want to view them there, a real pain if you ask me, and because we use iMovie, i have to leave forece home profile on. As SC92 says, its a matter for explaining, and training. Come on apple give us a proper solution!!!

Right here is my next problem, here i am setting up the windows network shares to be mapped on the macs, i have the magic triangle setup and am, I have setup 2 groups in LDAP on my mac server that are OSX_Staff and OSX_students and added the groups i want as members. Now i have added the windows shares i want mapped to those user groups. Here us a screenshot of what i am doing, and the problem i am getting. Everytime i create the share for //servername/shared work, it keeps appending the group name. So when i log in the macs and click the mapped drive it actually goes to //servername/shared work/*Group name* Where as i just want to it go to the root folder //servername/shared work/ What am i doing wrong? every time i delete the group name from path and save it reappears

So i used the above resource to make sure i was doing things right, and i know the clients can now see the folder /Library/ and all of its contents including the comic life registration plist file, yet when opening comic life it still wont be up the registration information, if anyone has setup comic life this way and network resouce, let me know if youve had a similar problem. As at the minute there is no reason why it should be picking up the serial from that location. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

yeah i don't like it every much either tbh, i resolved it by deleting the folder where backups were stored and restarting the service. Got a link for that software?

Hi, As of 10.40am this morning time machine backups have been failing. The only on screen prompt i get is to run disk utility, to repair the disk which i have done. My setup is a mac mini with two hard drives, with one server os hdd backing up to hdd 2. It has been working fine for the past 7 weeks since it was setup. Many thanks for looking

Yeah i did notice that, and we have some ipads now, theres a pretty good ultility out for configuring iphones/ipads/ipods but also good to see how others are doing it

right anyone else looking to set this up, look no further than here Loading… Although its for snow leopard, and im using lion, you can kind of read inbetween the lines, and get it setup Enjoy!

Yeah its the only way to progress on this one, after spending a few hours trying to find a work round, or hopefully 15 minutes explaining what needs to be done to get round it, maybe I'm lucky here and most people understand theres not always a clever it fix for everything. On another note, i did try not forcing local home folder, but only leaving a network drive causing issues when using iMovie, and its one of those things we need. So another piece of training, is when using iMovie to save in the local profile and remember which mac they were working on.

Yeah defintely worth connecting to itunes again for app retore to happen, only problem i can see, is every single app wanting to give you notifications via notification centre, might get annoying with a few 100 apps

no problems at all for me with iPad, and enjoying some of the new features

will do my iPad when i get home, hopefully some of the 200 features are noticeable
