Hi, Ive been told that its possible to burn a powerpoint to dvd and google didnt give me many answers other then 2 software titles that claimed to do this. I was wondering if anyone has managed to do this and most importantly for free:rolleyes: thanks!

The screen you have is now exactly the same as what we have here

Ive now got home folders being mounted on the macs, now what i want to do, is map the same network drives we have on our windows network on the macs. Which i believe is different from using group shared folder, as that would be mapping shared drives for folders stored on the mac server, here i want to mac drives that are located on a windows server, how do i go about this?
-
Sounds like when they are bound to the mac server, they ignore the fact you have added AD as an accounts server, not finding the accounts in od, so giving up altogether. Seen as though you have removed the OD bind, try removing the ad one as well, then readding both. I had one macbook that done this, and removing both the OD & AD account servers in directory utility and then readding solved the issue.

well i asked about smartclienting those windows 7 machines with rm, and i was told it still wasnt working very well with windows 7, this was about a year ago. Have you tried a complete rebuild of those affected machines, i only ask because i know rm have rolled out a update to the login process since the summer, and boot times have definitely improved, just wondered if maybe some had got the update and some hadnt? that would be if its the same machine being slow to log on each time, if its a random few every time, what is your wireless setup like?
-
Windows 7 side is completely umanaged, so i dont have any issues other then having to image them every now and again, but once i get deploystudio setup, even that wont be a problem. To map shares and home drive i use RM umanaged script, which in turn makes them just as useful as managed machines, but doesnt impact on performace. Did you install win7 then smartclient install cc4? i was told that cc4 doesnt run very well on windows 7?

sorry mellowip for the late reply, while setting up, i did experience login problems due to time settings, but do exactly what round2it said, and its been working perfectly ever since, let us know how you get on

Thats probably the biggest thing i can left to do, everything we have is bootcamped also with windows 7. so you might be hearing from me soon lol

[mac software] Apple iPads and managing the Appstore
stevenwba replied to zag's topic in Licensing Questions
Cheers David, you've managed to atleast shed some light on the entire process, but as you say, the amount now in schools must surely mean apple can no longer ignore this, especially when you think of the kinds of sales apple are making direct to education customers. -
Read the thread i started about "new to mac server" We've add macbooks, macbook pros and imacs for about a year and the server since september. Ago in the other thread ive just listed what ive got to do, but i also posted and got help on setting up software updates server, which give me a few problems but got there in the end. How are you imaging the macs?

Apple Leadership Event 19th October : Questions please
stevenwba replied to GrumbleDook's topic in Mac
If i have a site license of iworks and have it on disk, how do i go about installing it on ipads? Now everything is geared towards to app store, as a school, we are finding it diffcult to go about buying apps, and using apple id/id's to roll out apps to multiple hardware ipad/macbook/imac. Questions on licensing, of apps, maybe a volume feature, so one apple id can buy and get discount on large numbers of apps. I can think of some more, but for me, the most urgent now, is the whole software issue, and purcashing from the app store, because we can only buy via PO, it means getting itunes vouchers every time we want something. -
Were on an rm cc4 network also, using the unmanaged mac script, but on macbooks only with no problems, are you getting no errors at all?
-
Glad to hear it same, i reckon we are pretty much at the same place, do you have a mac server, its a lot to learn but damn, better then doing everything 40 times, which is what i was doing lol

[mac software] Apple iPads and managing the Appstore
stevenwba replied to zag's topic in Licensing Questions
That ipad trolly looks really interesting, my only question left is if, as suggest above there is one itunes account, will itunes itself allow the apps to be pushed onto many ipads. If so i can imagine us having a system, where our mac server, is the main apple account, with itunes with all the apps we need, then all exsisting ipads simply get connected and sync'd. I get the feeling there may be some problems with this, either due to licensing or limits with how many devices can access and sync to one itunes/apple id -

[mac software] Apple iPads and managing the Appstore
stevenwba replied to zag's topic in Licensing Questions
We have just had a few ipads here, so will be looking at this soon, what ive read so far, it looks like it could be a real pain to manage these, wished apple would spend more time looking at the needs of education users. May i just ask, have you had one itunes account per ipad, then buy the apps you want on each ipad? The only way i think it may work, would have itunes on one machine, and one ipad exactly how you want it, then sync all the apps to itunes, connect another empty ipad and then re sync. Only problem is, i believe any setting changes made would have to be done on each ipad, although if you have a mac server, i think you can manage ipad profiles there, but i havent even got round to taking a look at that yet. Just thought id let you know your not alone -
Your a star mate, thanks for the screen as well, will post when i get round to doing it
-
Thanks for asking mate, i have just yesterday bound everything mac to the mac server now, and managing as many preferences as needed, got the update server working at the end of last week, so just making sure everything is upto date and connecting to the server to do so. I am just waiting for buy some itunes vouchers so i can actually buy some apps from the app store, one of them being apple remote desktop, so until i get that i have completed everything so far. Biggest thing ive got left to do is bind OD to AD, but ive got someone coming in to help me with that. then ill look at creating network shares and last thing will be mapping users home folders, so plenty left to do. Just one question, if they OD is just replicating data found in AD, im guessing there wont be any problems using the mac server to mount these home folders? even though the work is ultimately saved to a windows server?

+1 for xibo, haven't got round to installing it yet but it looks good
-
cheers guys, pretty much confirmed what i had thought, think we'll be going for a 2nd hard drive, reinstall programes, and move data. Thanks very much for your help!
-
We are using windows xp, i have done this on windows 7 but i had a feeling doing the same with xp may be much more difficult
-
i would of done this but the other machine has no hard drive at all, im thinking of cloning the exsisting drive but i still wondered about drivers even after the clone image is restored on the hard drive in the new machine, is there a way of forcing driving onto a machine or image? Regards
