But I can't see how to use it. All the selection screens are still the same and I can't find any way to access it?

Number6 Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 I don't get that. If I go to the tone settings it's still the standard set up. Rings extended says it's installed but it's obviously not doing its job. I'll try powering down and back on.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling - zilch.
Number6 Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Now here's a strange thing. I installed Ringo Lite as well as rings extended. When I run Ringo it acts normally until I choose a track at which point the rings extended screen pops up, I then select rings extended and then it works OK, or appears to so far. If I uninstall Ringo I'm back to square one, RE doesn't want to know. Weird or what?

Zoom7000 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 So, after months and months of researching, I've finally come down to the following 2 phones to upgrade to. Either the HTC Hero or the iPhone 3GS. The iPhone 3GS (16Gb) I can get for free on O2 with a £32/month contract (Staff Discount!) - However, it's a 24 month contract! (Damn Apple and O2!) The best deal I've seen for the HTC Hero, is here because if I got the Hero, I really want the white version which seems to be damn near impossible to find anywhere in the UK on non cashback deals! That's the contracts sorted, now the performance. Even though the Hero (and Android) looks really promising, I've seen too much on YouTube and other review sites about it's speed issues in comparison to the iPhone 3GS. I know HTC have said a firmware update is imminent but is it really what it's cut out to be? Or should I let O2 tie me up in to a 24 month contract and jump on the iPhone bandwagon?
contink Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 I was going to go with the HTC Diamond 2 but after actually playing with one and playing with an iPhone 3Gs that a friend had I was left in a quandry. What really ended up selling me was the fact that I could get Exchange, and my tasks (the latter with an app) on the iPhone with considerably less hassle that I ever did with the Vario II or III (can't remember which) that I had. Haven't looked back since and all this stuff about keyboards, tbh.. the iphone is more responsive and easier to use than the actual keyboard on an HTC phone.. It's not perfect with some keys missing but I can type at normal speeds on my iPhone. Of course, all this aside, the fact that my friends mate works for O2 and got me a 30% discount on the tarriff for an 18 month contract was a definite incentive 1

deeknow Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 We've been a little starved for options as far as 3G phones with good-sized screens go down here in little 'ole NZ but our team bought one of the Android based HTC phones last week as a trial and have been pretty impressed so far. Can post a detailed review in a week or two once we've all had a chance to have a play. One thing thats almost a show-stopper for us however is the proxy support. WiFi access is available to students across our campus now and we are looking forward exploring mobile use/WiFi, but it seems you cant use a proxy in Android that requires authentication. You can update the built-in database to point to a proxy but cant seem to specify a username/password. Anyone got any insight into this? Or know if there's a workaround.
Theblacksheep Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 After some time playing with the itouch and wishing for an iphone.... i've just gone hero: I am allowed to change the battery myself! memory expansion slot customisation without hacking I can run multiple apps at the same time. I dont need to pay for most apps! non-propiatory usb connection and my best bit: No bloatware iTunes!!!!!
