    We've got some Toshiba Z30-A machines, really nippy machines, but are taking an age to image with WDS. Any particular reason this might happen? Only seems to affect this particular machine model.

    Its one of the reasons that we scrapped thin clients, too many resource hungry apps out there and to be honest the price of a fat client vs thin + backend is very similar if not better value with a fat client base.

    Cheers guys! I think the map editor one sounds like something pretty good, get them do some work and the reward is they can play on their map. MY only problem is that its one lesson per week so most other things are a little tricky to do.

    So ive signed up to this thing our school called enrichment and its my job for one period a week to enrich sixth formers in IT. So far they seem more into hands on stuff, ive done: Week1: Take apart a computer and put it back together (they shocking still worked) Week2: Insides of a HDD, inside of a server and a bit of talk on how it compares to the computers they took apart, tour of the server rooms in different buildings and finally they had a task to setup a PC, join the network and the reward was they could use the remaining 10 minutes to play Open Arena (Quake clone). The problem is its only an hour, and i dont want to do anything boring, but i think most of the stuff we do can be, for a sixth former, rather boring, plus none of them actually do any A levels in the subject so things end up going over their head. What hands on things could i do?

    Yeah, thats the only thing i can think of, is there any way of doing it, obviously they will have a window of being able to access the email whilst we are doing that. This is going to be for about 100 users. I was hoping there would be a way of doing in AD somewhere, but i cant see anything obvious.

    Sorry, should have said at the start we're on exchange 2007 with latest updates and service packs on server 2008 with latest updates. The scenario involves a malicious email being set out to a group of people, we dont want staff to see that email hence why im looking for options.

    We dont want to delete anything, just prevent them from accessing it.

    Hello all, My google is weak, but we have a scenario here where we would like to stop staff from having access to their email account, but still be able to log into their machines. Is there anyway of doing this? We dont want end users accessing emails at all, so we've disconnected the exchange server from the network. thanks in advance! Should add the specs: Exchange 2007 with latest updates on Server 2008. Clients using a mixture of Outlook 2010, phones and OWA

    Hello, Yeah, we've tried that, but when we try and install 32bit drivers it refuses to do that saying unsupported architecture. Even downloaded the 32bit drivers for 4700 universal but it wont accept them... Seems like you need the 32bit drivers for win 7 to compliment x64 universal drivers. Sadly our server is 2008 r2 (64bit) and our clients are winxp 32bit. To be honest its been working well for some time, so not really sure why its just decided to play up.

    The other thing i should have probably mentioned is that on the client side, when they go to advanced properties when printing, the tab for colour seems to have disappeared. The annoying thing is we havent actually changed anything. Removing and re adding the printer doesnt seem to resolve this. Disabled Papercut, no change sadly. Seems like its driver related, but given what we have done, nothing seems to be working?

    We have a server 2008 r2 server acting as a printserver. We have an HP 4700 (well a few of them plus other HP printers) attached to the server along with PaperCut software. For some bizarre reason our 4700s have decided to only print in black and white, no colour option. We've changed/updated the driver, reset the settings, reset the settings in papercut, deleted the printer and port, removed all drivers for the model, tried the universal driver but its just not playing ball. Also restarted the print spooler, no luck. We have a similar thing happen on our staff network on server 2003 server, except this time the prints keep coming out A5 size on A4. Done pretty much all of the above and still no luck! Any other things im missing we can try?

    Hello Guys, Was wondering if anyone has started moving to widescreens in your classrooms. Im finding the prices of 17" ans 19" screens quite silly to the point where you can get the widscreen versions for almost half the price. Also, how many of you go for the hard glass options?

    SSD vs HDD video @ my place I went down this route. I made a small video just for the sake of it. Core2Duo e6300 with 1GB of ram Machine on the left SSD (cheapest Kingston we could find about a year ago now) Machine on the right HDD (default 7200rpm drive) Now have core i5 machines with Samsung 830 ssd in our Admin areas and Crucial M4s in our Sixth Form library. Things like boot, apps, photoshop are very responsive!

    Hello, Yes, on both the CN and SAN the server name was included.

    Yes, sorry if i wasnt very clear. Previously out internal and external domain were both myschool.ealing.sch.uk I included this in the SAN name, but no effect, still getting these little pop up boxes.

    Hello, Hope i got this in the right place. Essentially our internal domain is myschool.ealing.sch.uk We moved to myschoolhighschool.co.uk externally Now for OWA i have a certificate for the new domain, which works fine etc, but internally we get a popup stating the certificate doesnt match the name of the site (which is right). I tried getting a new certificate with the old domain as subject alternative name, but that hasnt fixed the issue. Im not sure what way is best to proceed with this. Any advice appreciated. Exchange 2007 (no service packs) Server 2008 R2 SP1 Clients on XP with Office 2010

    Hello all, Was wondering if anyone has anything set up in their halls for staff to use in assemblies etc. At the moment we have an AV booth at the back of the hall which has a lot of complex equipment and whatnot, and usually we are tasked with setting up the assembly etc as only we have access to the booth (previously when we allowed access, things were literally damaged and it took us hours to sort out mess that was made). What i want to do is have a laptop or PC set up at the front of the hall (we have a VGA port, sound etc) and give access to it to reception so that teaching staff can just go for it without needing us. Does anyone have anything like this? Aesthetics is key as the hall is used for events and productions, and ideally something we could lock. Idea, suggestion all welcome - if you have pictures of your set ups, even better! Thanks!

    To be fair they seem like decent enough people, ive spent a good hour with them all grilling them and making sure they know what they are in for. One even got back to his agency contact saying he was even more interested in the job after i told him how much work we had to do, haha! In the past we've had people come in, one that i remember was for our wireless setup. My manager at the time made a duplicate of the admin account just so this person could do their stuff and get things working. Thank you all for the advice and comments, its actually been really helpful!

    They will be in to help with the summer project work. I suppose any domain user can join the machine to the domain, but they will need access to our local passwords and bios passwords when it comes to setting these machines up. Our passwords are somewhat consistent across our apps (smoothwall, papercut, moodle) though im sure i can probably get around them for this purpose. I only have one member of staff, when i should have three. Taken over as manager, but dont really have any junior staff to support me...
