I am hopeless at web design and the IT co-ordinator has little interest. So who do you use to design/host your school websites? Cheers Si

mb2k01 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 If you want to retain complete control of your own site, and are happy to use FrontPage or Dreamweaver for HTML / CSS based stuff then there are plenty of sites out there giving you access to decent templates. I've used Website Templates for Dreamweaver, Frontpage, GoLive, and Flash - 4Templates.com in the past. I've been toying with the idea of combining the main school website and Moodle together for some time (not quite ready to make the leap yet). I know there's also a lot of resources and positive comments on here for the EduJoomla package too (which I've briefly demo'd myself but couldn't really get to grips with)

Crispin Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 We will be outsourcing our website, saving us a lot of trouble in my opinion. Found a great local company, Yellow Duck are one of the companies we're very confident about and can cater to your exact needs. They can set up a nice joomla template and then hand over control to you if you haven't got much to spend, or they can do everything on your behalf. But like others have said, if you have the time, go with joomla.

As has been suggested a lot of people are now going down the Joomla route on here especially the edugeek theme. As long as you have sufficient new content (which is generally the biggest problem), then you could probably have a new website up and running in no time with very little web coding if any required.

oalcock Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Hi There, There are ready made templates available in Dreamweaver to use. To a professional they are obviously a dreamweaver template, but its a cheap option which you can do, or as everyone is saying; use Joomla.

gibbo_ap Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 i hand coded our site in asp, and did the design my self. decent back end easy for the staff to use. but i now want to go use joomla but i dare not re educate the staff, i just havent the time to keep coding new bits. i would love joomla if i could code a decent template.
