Hello, As the licences are from decommissioned computers they are allowed to be resold and the licence terms are exhausted, meaning that the original terms of the licence are no longer valid. So these can be resold and re-activated on another computer. We do have unbranded licences available so if you require we can supply the unbranded OEM ones. People are not clear on the laws regarding this as it was ruled in the European court but Microsoft terms for new licences are different so it gets confusing. They can definitely be used on any brand computer and you will be fully activated and receive full updates. If there were any legal issues we would not be able to resell these licences, Microsoft monitor sellers very closely and if we were breaching any policies they would shut us down. Hello, During my absence from one of my work places, they have had a third party visit to say that the computers are counterfeit. I purchased software and licences for them from a company called AClassSoftware, a legitimate software company. They sell Windows 7 licences, sometimes with vendors on the licences such as Dell. I have used these licences on HP and unbranded PCs. The software has a licence sticker; because they say Dell on them - is this counterfeit? Oliver.

Hello, I am really grateful for your advice! You are on the money with your suggestions but I am afraid I am still stuck. The UEFI is so tied down its untrue, it looks like guest access to the bios if you try entering a traditional bios without putting password in. No options for adding a bios I am afraid. Think I may just have to give it back to my client and say - 'sorry but no can do'

Hello, I have spent hours trying to figure out how to downgrade an Advent Laptop on Windows 8 to Windows 7. It has one of those UEFI boots on it which everybody raves about but I don't rate it one bit. Which ever angle I try and get it to boot from DVD, it just won't work - whether it's going in from Windows features, or trying all the function keys on boot. I believe that if I go into the UEFI configuration which looks just like a BIOS, I can disable secure boot and change the boot setting in there to BIOS but this seems to be restricted. Anybody any clues? there aren't even any open doors into a Command window to try and get at it that way. Please bring back press F12 to see boot options, there isn't even a facility to go into the F8 menu for Safe Mode or anything like that. Help somebody! Thanks in advance for your time. Oliver.

After I complained that this price was just crazy, they now don't charge us to upgrade our webspace. People who wouldn't know any better would pay this. Hello, Problem when trying to get Windows Update to install SP1 on a Windows 7 Machine. I am getting Error Code 80072F78 but the Windows helper isn't giving me a solution. It just downloads, tries to install and then says "Some updates were not installed". All the other updates have worked OK, it's just the SP1 for Windows 7 update. Ollie.

I would say it is recommended to monitor the server regularly where Anti Virus is concerned, and the info needed to monitor the clients isn't suitable in Sophos.

The client end tools for Sophos are great, easy to follow layout and user friendly, but really poor enterprise console facilities!

In the enterprise console for sophos though, you can start basic tasks on clients; but you can't see what is updating where and when, it's not very informative! Overall I think the enterprise console is too basic for a well managed enterprise system.

Hello All, We currently use Kaspersky End Point 8 Enterprise Antivirus, and the contract is almost about to come to an end. The facilities that the Enterprise Console in Kaspersky provides is fantastic, and it is full of features. We have had lots of problems with it though, for example - when updates have come through in the past, they've caused machines to loose system files and we've ended up either rebuilding software or repairing o/s. Sophos is another option, but it's pretty basic and doesn't do too much compared the the facilities in Kaspersky, and Sophos is more expensive than Kaspersky. What does everybody else use?

Hello Edugeekers, Problem with the above printer all started when the printer needed a replacement fuser unit. We ordered one of these costing well over £100. Once I installed this, the print quality became spot on but there was a horrible crunching noise which made us worry that the fuser was faulty. After researching further, it is common that the cogs/gears need replacing at the same time as the fuser, so I replaced the cogs/gears which we purchased from a maintanence kit that can be ordered direct from HP and third parties. Once the gears/cogs were installed - the machine ran beautifully and as silently as it should for approx. 1 day. The crunching noises started again, but the print quality remained fine, even though we didn't use it due to the crunching noises. I took the printer back apart, put it back together, and I am 100% confident that everything went back where it was supposed to. We now have a message on the display saying - 13.20.00 Jam inside rear bin. There is nothing inside the rear bin, but the fan isn't starting, nothing is turning, any suggestions anybody? I would be most grateful for any help/advice. Cheers Ol.

Hello All, I am after a free download for something that will convert office 2010/2007 documents into office 2003/2000 (so *.docx to *.doc). We use the Microsoft one at the moment, but it asks you to save the document every time conversion is required. Does anybody use any others? I am guessing it isn't as common these days as everybody will be on office 2007 or 2010 now? Thanks

Hello, Our planning team use Google Earth quite frequently, I imaged a couple of the PCs recently and re-installed Google Earth back on the machines. I am getting the following errors, the obvious stated solutions I have tried such as installing Direct X 9.0c and installing flash player. Error Message 1 = 'DirectX' Mode not supported NOTE: if the "Login Status" is blocking access to this window then do the following: click on the login window, press Alt-F4 (or 'esc' key on Mac)., then read the message below. Google Earth could not start in 'DirectX' mode. It is suggested you exit and start Google Earth again after trying one of the following suggestions. If none of them work, you can try 'OpenGL' mode. 1) Set color depth to "True Color (32 bit) in display properties (Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel ->Display ->Settings Tab) 2) Start Google Earth after waiting a minute 3) Close other applications (Particulary if they use 3D) 4) Download and install DirectX 9.0c or above by following the link below. Error Message 2 = Strongly Recommended 'DirectX' Please complete the login window first if it's shown in front. Upon investigation, we find that your particular graphics card does not support Google Earth in 'OpenGL' mode. You are likely to encounter severe problems with Google Earth if you proceed. We apologise for the inconvienience but would like to switch you to 'DirectX' Mode. Do you want to follow this recommendation? YES / NO Hopefully somebody has seen this before and can help?

Hello All, 2 machines with identical office 2000 packages on them, both have the exact same version of office convertor. Try opening the same office 2010 document on both machines, one converts the document and opens it straight away, the other asks you to save it. We want the incompatible documents to just convert and open, any suggestions would be appreciated? Both machines are running Windows XP Professional SP3. I would provide a screenshot, but everytime I try and do one, there is something in the image that I would prefer not to be posted on the internet like personal phone numbers etc, so apologies I can't be any help in that sense!
