I think it's fantastic that the site is doing so well, and that this role has come about because of this - it really is great news.

I do have a complaint however. I'm using the site less and less, and now only check it a few times each week because I can't be bothered to wait 3 minutes each time for it to load up. Out of all the forums I frequent (all with a really active user group) this has got to be the slowest to load. Surely if money exists for a new full-time role, money should exist for better/faster hosting?

I'm not telling anybody how to do their job, I mean look how far you've come :) - It's just something that I have noticed lately and maybe something that should be considered.

I take it back, although EduGeek appears to be slower than other sites I go on it seems that the problem may be the ISP at school.

Sorry EduGeek :)

I wish you all the best for the future.

I found the site by accident, I cannot recall how. But since then I have been helped, helped others, scrotched to death in a flame war and had my ribs tickled to the point of agony.

Where would I be without it?

I've often wondered, does anyone have any screen shots of the original PHPBB based forum that edugeek used to be? The archived page on the waybackmachine doesn't load, because (understandably) none of the graphics exist anymore!

Wash your mouth out with soap young man... I was and will return to be one of those poor saps who did that stuff for phpBB. Getting geared up for version 3 and beyond over the next few weeks too..

DB: Can I suggest cutting his edugeek rations by half as penitence ;)

err we already get it free well the space we get free... or what that meant to be with a ;) ..

In case it was serious we get space free but then we have to pay all the extras on top and heck they cost a lot and then we have to pay for you lot to come down so hotels, food, drink and the odd pizza.

Well done! Don't forget to point the webcam at the coffee pot and buy a drinks machine that lets us check it's stock levels for maximum geekness. ;)

We have one its Ric's school :) He has all of those, well bar the Ruckus Wireless as he has Bluesocket but his reasoning is he got it pre-ruckus in the UK so we can let him off.

Other members are heading that way, I for instance have Virtualisation (MS Virtual Server and looking into Hyper-V), Sun Storage, Ruckus Wireless (once funds permit) and Smoothwall UTM, oh and an MIS that works :)

You could be right, I remember there was a thread on it. I'm sure Geoff will find it :D

Yes on first versions of the plug it was wired up wrong and then we changed it etc.

What going on about I remember time when we had Word Art style logo..

It was as I made the thread I re-call and then we had a debate on how to wire a plug and if the logo was upside down or not and how we were viewing it etc etc
