ICT_GUY Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 A friend of mine has started coughing or sneezing into the crook of his arm cause he heard that it spread germs less that way.
powdarrmonkey Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 A friend of mine has started coughing or sneezing into the crook of his arm cause he heard that it spread germs less that way. That's because the BBC said so on the main evening news. How this is better than a handkerchief - or, shock horror, a disposable tissue - totally escapes me.
ascott2 Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 That's because the BBC said so on the main evening news. How this is better than a handkerchief - or, shock horror, a disposable tissue - totally escapes me. I think it meant if you didn't have a tissue that it is better than on your hands. My interpretation of that statement anyway.
JJonas Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 (edited) That's because the BBC said so on the main evening news. How this is better than a handkerchief - or, shock horror, a disposable tissue - totally escapes me. in using a handkerchief you are tranfering any germs on your hands to your face and any of your own germs to your hand which will then contaminate the next surface you touch if you use the crook of your arm the chance of contamination is less as most people dont use that part of their body to open doors. localzuk Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 a handkerchief They are a massively unhealthy thing! Imagine, you sneeze into it, put it into your pocket, then a while later put it to your face again and voila. Very healthy.
Andrew_C Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Very healthy. But MUCH better than sneezing into the air, or worse, on someone else!

I thought I had.
tech_guy Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 the media is spreading unecessary panic - it's all a storm in a tissue if you ask me...
WithoutMotive Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I think it might just be normal flu. Everyone just got into a panic when someone came back from their Mexican holiday and said, "Yeah, it was great but I've a swine of a flu". Everything just got blown out of proportion since then. Like a Chinese Whispers thing. :D
ICT_GUY Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I've just got back from a holiday in Mexico. Upon my return home I found a note from my wife saying that her and the kids have moved into her parents for a month and a message from my work telling me not to come in until further notice. The ironic thing is, I won that holiday in a Carlsberg competition. and A man walks into the doctors' and tells the doctor, "I think I've got swine flu." The doctor asks him, "How long have you felt like this?" To which the man replies, "About a weeeeeeeek!" 1
daveyboy Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I rung the Swine Flu hotline yesterday...... All I got was crackling............ 1
