witch Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 So, the day has finally arrived when the server and I have been moved out of the IT suite and into our own little office!! Given that this is a junior school, what posters etc do people have in their offices? I am looking to brighten the place up a bit and make it 'mine' I have some computer haiku posters and of course an edugeek sticker or two (no mug, alas, even though I have been promised one several times ) but I wondered what else I could use. Also, I wondered whether I need something on the door? I am also looking for some information posters about using IT - I did have some but they are very out of date - anyone point me to a link? Ta
JJonas Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Ive got shelves on most of my walls so little space for posters but I do have pictures of my children and some original artworks by them as well.
TSCL Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 The MSDN schools blog are offering free office 07 posters. Microsoft UK Schools News Blog : Reminder - Free Office 2007 classroom posters There quite good if a little massive. 4
tsky Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 One big whiteboard with lots of network scribbles on it.... And a large call-centre LED display displaying random IT messages on it.. that works a treat too
witch Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 I hadn't thought of a whiteboard - I don't have much room but can probably fit in a little one for notes etc. The posters are useful as well. I never have put up pictures of my children - probably because when I worked in industry men who did were considered 'family orientated - ahhh' but women with pictures were regarded as not being so 'committed' to their careers. Maybe things have changed now
Little-Miss Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 stuff that Witch, you put as many pictures of your family you like! My collection is growing. I've got a couple of Dilbert Comic Strips, What the duck? Sysman's brilliant Avatar, a photo of my egg and a pic of me and my fella!
_Bat_ Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Probably our most notable decoration is our batman calendar on the wall
Jiser Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Put a giant picture of yourself on the wall. Posing by a wooden fireplace, with small white dog on lap or beside you. Or cat if you want to be like blofeld. The evil I.T. witch! So which room did they give you - if your talking about me old school? Hopefully the server isn't to far for those poor lil comps to handle.
Popular Post Jamo Posted April 23, 2009 Popular Post Posted April 23, 2009 I made a few cut out ceiling cats and placed them around places. Tubbypaws 8

ninjabeaver Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 How about a Digital Photo Frame for all the photos you want. For a whiteboard make sure it's a metal one so you can use fridge magnets on it as well. Get a few Geeky bits up. Dilbert strips are always good. Mobile Phone holder for the desk and some cool blue lights in and around places to make it look sci-fi. Or do what I've just done and knock a wall down to make a big office / workshop.
tsky Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Cold Cathode tubes everywhere... I've got blue ones and the kids are all "woooooo" when they walk in. Staff are all "WTF are you IRRADIATING ME!?" 1
srochford Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Think it's been mentioned here before, but if you want to make your own really large posters from photos etc then try out Rasterbator (and no sniggering at the back!)
TechMonkey Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I made a few cut out ceiling cats and placed them around places. Tubbypaws Damnit, that was going to be my suggestion. Still waiting for the right moment to install some in various other offices USB missile launcher? Beyond that we haven't quite sorted posters for office. Well except network diagrams & notes. Beyond that one large white board for notes & bannings, fire escape route for when in panic & some shelves, mainly for my bike gear
witch Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 I might put up some of the lolcats as well Jiser, the office is down by 5E off the hall - custom built, very nice, and the computers were fine once I used the gigabit port on the switch for the server! I'm sittting here all alone listening to Classic FM and it is lovely and peaceful!
lionsl2005 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 There are some posters have a look Tons of free resources for the ICT teacher. Free ICT posters, wall displays and ICT classroom resources 2
Bigape Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 You seem to have missed the most essential piece of kit any well stocked support department needs. Just put a sign up on the door, so it can be read from outside, and write on it 'Back in 10 minutes' If nothing else it will let you know who has trouble with the English language (strangely, that usually seems to be teachers!)
