Well I'm sure if it is he'll have trouble replying to this message ;)

Although, maybe not, they do have access to computers in prisons these days, or so I am told.

Yeah, doubt that. My cousin just got out and he never had that privilege (nor should he might I add).

We've got a low security prison about twenty miles away and they've got a small PC suite - a friend of mine is employed to go and teach them IT.

Doubt he'd be in a low security prison, having comitted manslaughter and all. Do these machines have internet access? Or is it just for the likes of word etc.

My Dad told me yesterday that his colleague (they do a lot of driving together) goes straight to the OUTSIDE lane on the motorway and stays there for the duration. He asked her why and she said that she didn't like changing lanes so just stayed in the fast lane.

It's quite scary when you think about the lack of skills some of our drivers have. Motorway driving should definately be included in a modern driving test seeing as though it's now such as big part of driving life.

I've come down to Coventry today and was forced onto the hard shoulder once, cut up 3 times and had to do an emergency stop once. Having a SMART car is nice, but because it is smaller you tend to get people being aggressive and dominating.

I have made notes of registrations and locations, have tried reporting at least one but did not exactly get a positive response from the local constabulary ... basically it is my word against the driver (when they find him) as there are no monitoring cameras where it happened so it is unlikely to go further. If there was contact it would be another matter in spite of me arguing that reckless endangerment is reckless endangerment no matter whether there was contact or not ... it is just the case that it is easier to prove if there is.

All the culprits were lorries or white vans ... and I am not going to risk contact between me and one of them just so that the police and CPS can do their job ... I understand their difficulty but that doesn't help me.

Lol...

I had a friend that used the outside lane for about 50miles... its only when he finally pulled over and about 3miles of cars went past he wonderd why people where flipping him the V....

I then had to explain what the fast lane was for and he said oh I didnt know...

Some people just shouldnt drive.

will finish reading in a sec but to correct (if some1 hasnt already)

whilst prisons do have computers, and sometimes small suits, they do not have a internet connection, and most of the ones i know about arent event networked, just standalone.

they are not alowed a net connection. my old man just got out 4 months ago, he was on an it course there, (ended up teaching most of it lol)

Its thread like these which make me happy with my driving skills. :D

Now if only I can stop BMWs rear-ending me...

I'm sick of driving on the motorway at the moment because of all the centre lane dawdlers who won't drive in the inside lane. They just don't realise how much congestion it causes.

I always see people complaining about this phenomenon, but rarely do I see it. I wonder how many of these complaints are due to drivers being forced to slow down to the speed limit rather than being forced below said limit?

I have made notes of registrations and locations, have tried reporting at least one but did not exactly get a positive response from the local constabulary

I did this once and was told that it is worth reporting such incidents as it helps police form a picture of the driver's road attitude and may be of help should a more serious charge need to be brought/considered.

IMHO "Obstructing the free flow of traffic" should be an offence in it's own right and carry 3pts (and enforced by cameras:eek:) just like speeding, going through red lights etc, and poor lane discipline should be a contravention of it as should overtaking in a lane that is signposted as closing ahead, such as when approaching roadworks.

Just think how many holdups and therefore accidents would be avoided if it was.:bored:

If I want to speed then that's my choice - I'll face the consequences should I get caught. But the 'overtaking' lane, not the 'fast' lane as its sometimes called, is exactly for that - overtaking. People don't have the right to sit and slow speeding cars down - that's a job for the police.

If a car is going faster than me, I'll let him through. I don't care whether he gets three points or not.

Do they have a company name on the side? If so, try complaining directly to them.

And what about the choice of the people you may kill when your speeding leads to an accident that perhaps could be avoided if you stick to the speed limits?

Speed limits are there for a reason and need sticking to!

Neither do people have the right to slow cars obeying the speed limit down by "trapping" them in other lanes due to their illegal activities.

You take a trip down the M6 from Wigan to the junction with the M56 and then take the M56 to Manchester and I guarantee you'll see lane 1 empty, at the bit when it's 4 lanes you'll even see the idiots sat in lane 3 while the first two are empty - especially where it goes over the viaduct.

Maybe it's different "down south", but the last time I saw a "middle lane hog" was last year some time - doing 65mph in the middle of a deserted M27 at 4am on Sunday.

I won't kill anybody through speeding because it's not an activity I partake in. I was talking in a figure of speach.

I agree that speed limits are there for a reason, but my point is it is NOT my job to sit in the outside lane and hold up traffic that do wish to speed - that is how accidents happen. I use the outside and middle lane for overtaking and when not overtaking I stay in the inside lane.

The speed limit was only introduced because during the seventies one driver was doing around 147mph in I believe a jag this was seen as reckless ;). Seeing as car safety has come a long way, braking distances are now much shorter why is this low limit still in force? Germany seems to do very well without it on the Autobahn.

Considering the amount of idiots we have on our roads, I think it would be dangerous and impractical to increase the limit at the moment.

You can have the safest car in the world and still have an idiot behind the wheel - how safe is it then?

I agree that maybe speed limits should be increased on major roads, but only if the driving test covers more aspects of modern driving.
