Can anyone recomend me a good touch screen phone. As my contract is due to be renewed soon. I am looking for something with good web browsing facilities, music player and a decent camera.

If people dont rate touch screen phones please can you explain why and recomend a good "normal" phone.

Thanks

Take a journey to the 'dark side' and buy an iphone. Best mobile I've ever owned by far! Meets all your criteria apart from the fact the camera on it is a bit rubbish! There's supposed to be a new model out in another month or two and I reckon there's probably a good chance this will have an improved camera.

Just moved from a HTC touch to a iPhone 3G

The UI is second to none, and the web browsers awesome. plus the sound quality using headphones is amazing (much better than my previous iPod)

Nokia 5800 great music and movie playing, tv out, 3.5mm headphone socket.

Web browsing is quick and easy, navigation on the touch screen is good, lots of symbian apps for it.

Only gripe is the micro usb port and the fact it doesn't charge from this.

Well I've just read that review and have to say I have found no problems with navigating it or using any of the keyboard options available for it.

Not broken or bent the stylus yet and while it's a bit small it works and they give you a spare.

I have the Samsung i900 Omnia, good phone, nothing brilliant about it. Needs resetting alot and needs a good ROM flashing to it to get the most out of it.

Im going to move back to a HTC Touch phone, cannot decide between the Touch pro or HD, will probably go for one with a keyboard though as i'm quite quick at typing on those little keyboards.

HTC Touch HD - iPhone is wayyyyy over-rated.

Well I've bought the Touch Pro now and I know that the EduGod has been oodling over other nice HTC gadgets as we could have had an Edu-war over them as we both wanted HTC phones but thankfully we chose different models :) Looking forward to getting it next week :D

They are just generally very good phones. They are most often re-badged in a lot of places, O2 started the trend I feel fairly safe to say with the O2 XDA back in the early 00's. This spread to the other networks and is quite common. HTC is the firm that makes them all before re-badging. I would give them a look up they get good reviews.

Ive got an iphone 3G - they are also releasing OS 3.0 looking forward to that.

They must have an adaptor to connect to telly or something as there are setting for NTSC or PAL etc on the iphone 3g

I never want one, I like to be able to text using buttons

As nice as the iphone etc is, they're a nightmare to type on

Exactly why i do not want a Touch Phone! I sent just over 3000 Texts last month, i can text without looking at the screen almost on my N95, touch screen? NO WAY.

Instead of a new phone have you thought of just staying with current phone and changing to a SIM Only price plan? Thats what i did a year ago and i still do not want rid of my N95, its the first time since i was 18 i've never wanted to upgrade when contract is up.

i had an rdp add on for my htc touch (removed it as it kept complaining about lack of ram turned out id got a music file in main ram rather than on the card )i think newer versions may have it built in but a lot of them dont seem to be wifi enabled anymore and tbh the screen was far too small for rdp youd spend all your time scrolling round

have had various touch screen phones (way before they have become common place). history

  • orange spv
  • spv e200
  • spv m2000 (touch screen)
  • spv m5000 (touch screen)
  • spv m3100 (touch screen)
  • htc touch (touch and gesture)

currently have a nokia n95 as i lost my touch :( the camera is million times better that any of the above but i do miss lots of the functionality thinking of either the nokia n97 or htc touchpro2 next
