And for making audio CDs, "Burrrn" is king. With some burning apps you need to change the burn mode off SPTI because XP won't usually let standard users burn in that mode.

Plain old mkisofs and cdrecord mostly, sometimes k3b if I feel like using a gui.

Best thing about mkisofs and cdrecord: quick, simple, powerfull.

Best thing about k3b: Integrates with amaroK (Burn this album to disc, etc)

I have always had problems getting XP to admit that my laptop drive is a writer. I tend to use CD Burner XP pro, its pretty quick and does ISOs and bootable disks. It has an option to install the NMSaccess service which is required for non-Admin burning.

I personally stick with Nero, and it does everything that i need to do, we dont allow the kids access to the ROM drives so they cannot burn anything if they need nething burning then they have to come to us.

Staff use Roxio which seems to work pretty well for all they need to do

www.deepburner.com is a pretty good one which has an intuitive interface and is pretty easy to use :)

I also agree about Nero, ( I've always used that myself ) unless Im using my power book in which case I just use the disk util or Toast ( which seems a little clunky )

Be careful with that, you're not allowed to use the free version of Deep Burner in schools, it is for personal use only.
