Lancashire Schools' ICT Exhibition

Hi Dos_Box,

Do you know who we would approach about exhibiting (if it's not too late..)?

We have (finally  ) managed to start development on a Moodle federated search mechanism and single sign-on for Britannica and really could do with a platform for 'proper' users to look at and comment on it, either filling us with happiness or dispair at our efforts..

Hope you can help, or at least point me in the right direction..

I was going to post more on this today anyway. The Lancashire Schools ICT Exhibition is on the 26th March (Thursday) at the Woodlands Centre in Chorley and is open to anyone from any LEA\RBC. The event is free to attend and directions can be found here:

Yes, anyone can attend, and we shall be there, as will SmoothWall, Navaho and a lot of other hardware companies, more than the educational software houses and suppliers at any rate. I've rigged it so that we are next to SmoothWall too. Not so much in the way of freebies, although I do have some stickers and very nice baseball caps to give away to anyone who is nice to us :)

And NEt-ctrl/Ruckus will be there as well :)

Yep sure will

Net-Ctrl will be showing the Ruckus kit for all to see

It will be Stuart and Myself and then Scott Reeves Technical Director of Ruckus so please come and pay us a visit we will be happy to meet with you all and answer any questions you may have and show you the kit.

Cheers

I may come this year but probably on my bike so I wont get asked if I was a head teacher, wearing a leather jacket like I did several times last year!

Sorry, not enough lead time. You'll have to make to with funky embroidered t-shirts and baseball hats.

We shall be next to SmoothWall in the bottom left hand corner of the Oak Room (the one where we had last years conf). Come and see us and get a very nice emroidered EduGeek t-shirt (for members only BTW!) or a hat, which are equally nice!

Sounds lovely :) Have a nice time, I won't be coming to play I'm afraid for a start im a Yorkshire man so would feel out of place in a Lancs event and B I'm a poor Yorkshireman so cannot afford to see any more shiny things to buy as I've probably spent next years budget 10x over already and I haven't even got it yet :(

Hope that an edugeek shirt (you should know beter as a mod! - Ric_) will be reserved for the mods who cannot attend :)

Dont worry John Net-Ctrl have some of the USA Ruckus T-Shirts which we are giving away so I will save you one of those, the only problem is they are US size and XXL seems to be big enough for us to use as a tent......Also this seems to be the only size we have.

Hi Mark, you qualify for a free t-shirt, and we're bringing our Ruckus pup too :)

It was very interesting talking to the Sun thin client guys - especually when they showed me video on a thin client!!!!

(Never say somethings are impossible :) )

They admitted to "cheating" by getting their little thin client box to do the video decoding instead of directly streaming it from the servers

They currently support H264 (mp4/xvid/divx) and VC9 video and are working on flash.

They talked about other things but I didn;t really understand them but it sounded very good:)

regards

Simon
