flyinghaggis Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 They're making a new one-off special ! Red Dwarf finally returns to Earth • The Register Will probably watch it but given how bad the last season was I'm not holding out much hope of it being any good. Guess it's a bit of nostalgia though.....
Little-Miss Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I follow Robert Llewllyn (SP?) on my twitter, he mentioned it last week sometime that he had been to film and how long he was in makeup for the mask. As long as bloody Kerchanski (SP?) isnt in it, it should be ok.....
webman Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 @Little-Miss - same here - he's been going on about it for ages! And his car pooling thing....
matt40k Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 God I hope they don't get back to earth. Also they should have a credit crunch budget. Look what they did with £500 back then1!! Still... can't wait. In Smeg we trust!
Michael Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Excellent news I am a Red Dwarf fan! They're always showing it on Channel Dave
joe90bass Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I guess this is to replace the movie they were going to make but never did! I'll be watching, "it's cold outside and there's no kind of atmosphere...." Funniest thing I recall was the interview they did when someone asked what smeghead meant!
Zimmer Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I got the news this morning from a work colleague...... Very impressed, can't wait :)
gibbo_ap Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 i heard about this a while back (sorry for not sharing). from memory it is being made for/by Dave (the channel) as part of their 'we dont just show repeats' thing. Red Dwarf : Back to Earth In August 2008, Robert Llewellyn appeared on Seattle public television station, KCTS 9. In an interview, he revealed that BBC Worldwide, in collaboration with another party, had invested in one hour of new Red Dwarf to be filmed in early 2009.[42] Grant Naylor Productions announced that it had been "on the cards" since February 2008.[43] It subsequently transpired that UKTV channel Dave will screen four new 30-minute specials to celebrate the twenty-first anniversary of the show.[44] The new episodes form part of an effort by Dave to screen more original programming, instead of just repeats.[45] It was subsequently announced in January 2009 that the new special was to be a brand new two-part story titled Red Dwarf : Back to Earth, broadcast over the Easter weekend of that year along with a "making of" documentary and a one-off entitled Red Dwarf : Unplugged.[46] Unplugged was described by Craig Charles as "just the four of us - and some chairs - trying to improvise, or rather trying to remember, classic scenes".[47] that is from wikipedia i agree with matt40k, they need a tiny budget!
