apoth0r Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I wouldn't mind touching on reviewing some Primary School software. I'm sure theres a few people in the Primary Social Group who wouldn't mind giving some input there too.
powdarrmonkey Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Hehe, I've always wanted my own column (though I guess that means it has to be more than a one-off )
apoth0r Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Hehe yeah, I'd also be tempted with an "Educational" Games section
Hightower Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 Well, hopefully if we can get enough contributors we will be able to change the columns as and when contributors feel the need to write something. That way PowderMonkey, you only write a column when you have something to talk about - meaning the finished magazine will be better as you are not being 'forced' to write on a 3-monthly basis which may be made up of BS. Where as if you WANT to write about something for an edition then your article would be better. I'm not making sense am I?!
apoth0r Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Perfect sense mate, that's probably why my washing up hasn't been done. I know it has to be done, but do i really WANT to?
powdarrmonkey Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Ein gutes plan. Once a quarter really isn't much to ask though, to be fair.
Hightower Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 Do you ever? Cheers webman, no doubt bossman will be along shortly also to have a jibe at me
gibbo_ap Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 i wouldnt mind writing or designing content for the mag, has been a while

crc-ict Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Hi all, I'd be up for helping out with that. Writing (although I'm not good at thinking up themes myself!), Imaging, Photoshop that sort of thing. Chris
Hightower Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 Wow - great response! 10 EduGeekers up for helping in some way or another. Keep them coming though if you want to help and I'll be in touch with you all shortly
Loks Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Another here, will certainly help out with what i can. Time to give back indeed i think, as i have lurked here for a couple of years now! Loks
russdev Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I will write something for it as well.. Russ 1
contink Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I can provide a couple of articles as well as I have a few already in the pipeline.. Just a note re: the whole coordination thing (as someone who has also tried and failed to get a similar project off the ground)... Get someone who can run with it and doesn't have any other responsibilities (like moderating, admin, etc.) and who knows how to delegate but also how to beat people around the head until they get stuff in. It's too easy for something else to take over and it needs someone who can run with it... Likewise I'd avoid worrying about advertising the first time around and just go with the current advertisers so you can prove its worth to them and other potential buyers before you worry about how you'll price up the subsequent ad's in the future. Oh, and just a small suggestion, attribution as always would be good.. as well as prizes, carrots, whatever to those who do actively contribute... This is, after all, a money making scheme too... 1
DSapseid Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I am all for helping out as well, happy to write something, design whatever really. Also my old man does this proffesionally for added support
Dos_Box Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Another here, will certainly help out with what i can. Time to give back indeed i think, as i have lurked here for a couple of years now! Loks Where are you at then. Oh, and I have to use this smilie as it is so apt (as well as my current favourite):
russdev Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I agree main thing was that person running it had someone in admin team to go to get any resources sorted to help them but not for the admin to do any of the creation side. We agreed between us that should be one admin as contact on admin team if they need anyhelp and and rest of us admins will b*tt out. Ric_ Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 We agreed between us that should be one admin as contact on admin team if they need anyhelp and and rest of us admins will b*tt out. That 'we' being the 'royal we' and it was decided yours truly would be the admin contact. The eagerness to take part so far is good. It would be nice to have our own EduPress writing for the EduMag. If all goes to plan I will simply need to check it before publishing to make sure that you guys haven't created an EduPron mag
TechMonkey Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 No eduPron?! I'm out. I shall take my business else where.

Hightower Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 I didn't think we would get so much support. I'm guessing by the way the threads are going that Ric is going to be our contact?! Also, there's a new 'private' group called EduGeek Magazine. If you have posted here stating your interest then an invite is on the way to you.
