ninjabeaver Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Is it just me, or are any other Network Managers / Technicians absolutely exhausted at the minute?
Domino Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Well, no longer in a school, but this week i've installed 16 new servers, 40 pcs and set them up on a seperate benchmark/testing domain. on top of my other work. This morning a remote site has had an outage, so i need to go and bring everything back online. I'm also building a file server to take to dublin next tuesday, and another to take to luxemburg the week after. ...so, yes.
ninjabeaver Posted October 24, 2008 Author Posted October 24, 2008 Blimey. My Senior Tech is away toady, so I am enjoying running around and doing tech work again for a change though, but would love a go at doing your stuff Domino.
Midget Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I too am knackered. also I read Domino's post as I'm also building a file server to take over dublin next tuesday, and another to take over luxemburg the week after. As imagined Domino stroking a white fluffy cat whilst sat in a large leather chair
alan-d Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Been a long summer and half term. Interviewing for new tech today too. Roll on 4.00pm
teejay Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Yep, tough summer followed by tough first half of term operating with half of my technicians off sick for most of it. Staff training day today and it is a training day rather than an extra days holiday for the teachers which makes a change!
elsiegee40 Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 No teachers for the last 2 days, the school is being opened up an hour later because it's half term and slowly I'm starting to recover
tech_guy Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I'm knackered and I'm working all next week... ...roll on to the two week xmas/new year break where I can spend all mornings in bed.
Ric_ Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Not had any leave since May and it's starting to get to me so I decided that I'm not working next week. I don't think I've been helping my tiredness this week mind, three nights in a row out playing/watching/refereeing snooker matches! (at least I won my game on Wednesday )
sparkeh Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Yep knackered, half term here this week and Im working so no recovery time. Xmas seems so far away
pooley Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Yep knackered, half term here this week and Im working so no recovery time. Xmas seems so far away 61 sleeps till xmas (just under 9 weeks)
powdarrmonkey Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Shattered. I've been working during the day, going straight to the theatre and doing shows in the evening, and going home and pretending to sleep for a few hours for three weeks now Youth theatre this week, the rowdy rabble...
TechMonkey Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Yeah, completely cream crackered. V glad I booked next week off. Plus only just managed to resist having a mass Fable2 session last night which would have made it ohh so worse.
WithoutMotive Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 This has been a very long half term and seems to have dragged a lot. Thankfully, I'm taking the full week off next week when it's half term so I'm not going to do a thing!
sparkeh Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 To be fair, my tiredness is partly my fault. Every night I do some MSCA study, and I'm doing a Psychology A-Level at the same time
dezt Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Yeah i'm knackered too, maybe i should stop watching the it crowd and go to bed earlier, or stop thinking about work stuff when i'm trying to get to sleep, last night i was trying to figure out why my radius server wasn't authenticating correctly. Roll on payday then the pub will be able to take my worries away.......
bossman Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Never been this tired but having said that having to go out at 2.30 this morning to fetch son and one of his m8s home from a college party may have a little to do with it, 3.30 when i eventually got to bed. Ohh and to cap it all forgot that webman is off on holiday today so me an Tallan me part time junior tech (4hours a day) have to manage plus next week have another two ICT suites to build and configure, it's all the unwrapping that does me head in.
Pete10141748 Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 .... and I'm working all next week... Yup, me too. The Techie is off on his hols so it's just me here. Maybe it's becuase I've never really dropped out of "uni" mode, but for four years I worked through September to Christmas, so it doesn't really feel like im losing out TBH. Not that a holiday wouldn't be nice; I plan on taking much of my owed time off after the halfterm.
itman Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Well, no longer in a school, but this week i've installed 16 new servers, 40 pcs and set them up on a seperate benchmark/testing domain. on top of my other work. browolf Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Im tired of dealing with stupid preventable problems.
apoth0r Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Im tired of dealing with stupid preventable problems. That also includes women! (I haven't just split up with the missus, honest )
Sirbendy Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 not too bad, TBH. Surprising as I normally start to "shut down" in the winter months as SAD catches me..I didn't even realise it was Friday..my body thinks at most it's wednesday. Next week we have a laptop trolley and 24 laptops arriving, so I'll come in for a day to connect them up to charge and ghostcast the lot, we'll run them up for a login test on the new APs, but..that's it for here. I'm going to spend the rest sorting the house/garage/garden for the winter, getting my car retyred , suspension analyzed and tracked to find out why it's driving like a 3 legged cow, and then..we'll see. Should be quite relaxing.
mattx Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 If I get tired, I just have a snooze in my chair......Zzzzzzzzzzzz:sleep: If anyone needs something, they can wake me up.
stu Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Just tired due to waking a 3am to bagpipe music when i pulled out head phone jack and Dropkick murphys blasted out threw my room oh and gym last night
