JavaNocKziK Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me produce a program. I was thinking along the lines of a program that would 'net send' the another computer on a LAN network but without using net send in the command promt. Does anyone know how I could get this to work with two text boxes, one for the PC name and the other for the message aswell as a button to send the message, displaying it on the other PC in a dialog box.? Source Code / Code Snippets would be a great help! Thanks.
OutToLunch Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Administrator disabled net send on your network then? It's easily googleable and there's plenty of other apps out there already that do exactly this...
JavaNocKziK Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 Actually I'm an ICT administrator for a company. I want the ability to allow staff to chat to other people in other rooms on the network or request for help from their workstation. I would code my own program but I only know Visial Basic 2008 but I'm a bit rusty with that, so was just wondering if someone could help me. Thanks.
Jona Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Intresting because googling your username turns up lots of profiles for a 15 year old... IT admin at 15? I'm slightly suspicious! As noted above there are lots of vb apps on the net to do this already just google it..... But if you arn't the administrator you may well be in violation of the AUP on your network, if you are the Admin why can't you just enable netsend? Jona 1

JavaNocKziK Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 So? Who cares if I'm a gamer, who plays Counter Strike? No one! I came here for help, thats one of the reasons many people come here! To share / exchange and help. I was asking for help, would really like that. Thanks.
tech_guy Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Actually I'm an ICT administrator for a company 1
craigg Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 This has made my day. At least use a different name! Kids these days.
Lesley_tech Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Go back to school and do your work instead of trying to annoying people in your class with netsend if its banned then it's banned. They don't want you accessing it 1
TechSupp Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 (edited) Classic...Absolute Classic..That has been the best thing today  Nice one Tech_guy Creative with the truth!!!! Bit rusty with vb 2008:doh: Quote from Profile: JavaNocKziK has not made any friends yet Think this will change? Edited September 23, 2008 by TechSupp
Lesley_tech Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 LOL WOO techguy I think this young lad here got what they call OWNED!!!. Hmm you better hope your IT technicians don't use this website!
Edu-IT Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 I'm glad I used a different name on this forum when registering. At least I don't have to worry about any interrogation and background checks. Good work tech_guy. Now can anyone help the OP bypass the security?
somabc Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Actually I'm an ICT administrator for a company. I can't believe we have student here pretending to be an admin? Points for initiative there. Anyway if you are in fact an admin it sounds like you want an Instant Messaging Client / Server? Don't waste your time writing your own, use one that already exists. eg Pidgin, Jabber, IRC or for a more corporate feel Microsoft Office Communicator. Of course you will likely require admin rights to set these up.
JavaNocKziK Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 Lewis Spriddle... previously banned for experimenting on school computers and was warned about emailing ICT staff on EduGeek, I don't think you have the right to come on here and bitch.
JavaNocKziK Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 And thanks somabc, atleast some people help.
tech_guy Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Oh, I'm always ready to help - just don't lie about who you are or your intentions, Aubrey.
powdarrmonkey Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Can we stop the mud-slinging now? If you want to write something yourself in VB, you need to investigate sockets (I'm not going to spell it out for you, go have a hunt around).
JavaNocKziK Posted September 24, 2008 Author Posted September 24, 2008 Thanks tech_guy, I supose so. But then again it doesnt really matter about who I am, I was asking for help and all I need is help, not to be told who I am when I fully know who I am.
dalehopper Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 can somebody help me run the county, i really am the prime minister -honest! love it, top marks for trying!
Dos_Box Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Thanks tech_guy, I supose so. But then again it doesnt really matter about who I am, I was asking for help and all I need is help, not to be told who I am when I fully know who I am. Erm, yes it does. You actively want us to undermine the very work we do for our day to day job! Whilst I have no doubt that our members would be very helpful had you just come out with an honest question please do not think that they will not get suspicious. Many of us here are security experts and can flag a suspect question and dig a little very easily. Telling us that you are as qualified and experienced as the rest of us after the work and effort we have to put in to get to our various positions does raise the hackles somewhat.
bizzel Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 All I need is help, not to be told who I am when I fully know who I am. Yet you pretend to be someone you're not.
LeMarchand Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Can we stop the mud-slinging now? Not quite yet... But then again it doesnt really matter about who I am, I was asking for help and all I need is help If I was - to stretch a point - to go on a chemistry forum and claim that I had forgotten how to make a bomb out of various easily obtainable compounds and only needed to know for a quick essay on the theory, I would certainly hope that questions would be asked even though I "needed help". not to be told who I am when I fully know who I am. You sound like Robert Downey Jr. in "Tropic Thunder" .
