help finding a ping application to tell if servers/switches are still up

Hi I remember once using a little application that you could enter the I.P address of any servers or switches or any I.P address you wanted to monitor. This app would give you a visual green light if it could ping and a red light if it could not.

 

I wonder if anyone has anything similar?

I can't think of an application which does this, but alternatively if you type:

 

ping 192.168.1.1 -t

 

This will keep pinging until you close the command window.

I think he wanted something pretty, with lights.

 

 

Nagios gives pretty graphs and will even email you if there is a problem

I find that PingInfoView from Nirsoft does what I need.

Not exactly a monitor but it does have red and blue markers. Gives IP addresses and other info on devices within a range or a single IP. It's called IPscan, sorry haven't got the web site address but a Google should find it easily enough I think.

I use IPscan which will 'investigate' a whole range of IP's but may not be conclusive enough for what you want.

 

You'll need to rename the file from a .zip to a .exe

We're using PRTG network monitor here, does alot more than just pinging though its not free - 30% off for education sector though

 

(though you can tell it to just ping if thats what your into)
