kmount Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Acer? (If so, I really should get out more to identify it..)
tech_guy Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Fluking hell! And that's not been dropped - that's an impact crater on the screen it's been hit or something has been thrown at it more like.
webman Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Stick it on a small platform in the middle of a large white room in the Tate Modern - you'll make a fortune. Ladies and gentlemen - "21st Century Teachers. By katem."

OutToLunch Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Fell, opened itself on the way to the ground and executed a perfect swan dive onto something large, solid and about the size of a cricket ball which was coincidentally on the floor under it. Either that or someone's been playing french laptop cricket at the weekend.

tomscaper Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I would bet that they slammed the lid closed on something. Cant figure out the situation where it falls out of a bag, opens up and hits something pointy.

I like your theory outtolunch whatever it 'fell' on it must have gone with a hell of a crack as the dent on the lid is tiny.
Dos_Box Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I'm more willing to be it was left open by a couch, forgotten about and was stepped on (probably drunkenly and on class A drugs) when the user got up!
webman Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Send the laptop to the CSI lab care of Gil Grissom, they'll find out what really happened
beeswax Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 We had two teachers reverse over their laptops in the space of one week, neither of them looked as bad as that. However, they were closed and in their laptop bags so I suppose that made all the difference.
stephenleak Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Send the laptop to the CSI lab care of Gil Grissom, they'll find out what really happened I've seen that kind of damage before. My money is on someone carrying the laptop with the power unit in beween the keyboard and screen.
Pottsey Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 My guess would be someone dropped it out there bag while on a bike at a semi high speed. That or they somehow ran over it with a car.
john Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Hmm. Pentium 4? Be more specific mate, some P4s were fine, just the Prescott series were rather warm:p
