Does anyone have any ideas for anything i could make for my GCSE Electronics project. Im pretty stumped as for what to make cause i dont want to make something simpily stupid like a money box with a flashing light, like everyone else lol.

I remember that..heh.

 

I did a battery powered proximity alarm with an IR diode..fairly sure it ran as well!

 

My all time fave lessons..the smell of burning silicon never gets dull.

I remember making an AM / FM radio that had an amp circuit to amplify it. Worked a treat until I tried to combine the circuits into one as originally had the circuit in about 2 or 3 parts / boards / circuits.

 

One bit was the radio circuit with the relevant IC's etc, one bit was the amp and another bit was a step down circuit to step down the voltage etc from a 9v battery to the correct voltage / current.

Your own personal wifi network detector? A friend of mine suggested it to his lad on the course and with a bit of work he made one and it was about the size of an ipod nano. Edited by tech_guy

How good is your programming? You could make an environmental monitering sensor for use in server rooms, Just a temperature sensor hooked up to a microcontroller that outputs the current temperature via a serial port.

 

Might be a bit lame but from some of the posts around the forum you could probably sell a couple. :)

An auto-on water pump to pump water from a small, enclosed space (say, just as an example, the courtyard in the middle of our prep school) when the water level reaches a given height (say, somewhere below window level...). Given prevailing weather conditions, could be a best seller.

Produced an electronic target system back in the days before replica BB guns were frowned upon...and my eyesight deteriorated to the point of not being able to hit a barn door.

One of our lot is building a robot lawnmower. Imagine a vacuum-formed roomba with an underside comprised mostly of spinning stanley-knife blades with motors, steering and blade speed controlled by a basic stamp.

 

We'll be wearing steel toecaps if we have to venture down to the tech dept this year.
