We are running Impero EdPro, the onpremise version and today we are unable to use the software as the sofware is stating that it's not licensed (yet it is) and imperosoftware.com is unable to be contacted.

When we try to register the license, we get a message stating that the license has already been activated.

When we try the "check internet connection" it reports imperosoftware.com is unreachable.

I allready had Impero Client open on my PC this morning, I could see 4 PCs, thinking it was a bit odd, closed and re-opend and it was saying there was no licences left. looked at the server and it is asking to register!

Due to our re-newel being tomorrow, I just thought it was that.
When we tried to contact them yesterday, there was no repose from anyone??

We've worked round it for now (obviously will need to reactivate later when it's fixed) but we needed it now.

if you have backups....

On the registration screen, set a bogus proxy so it can't talk back.

Stop Impero Server service

Restore Licence.xml and Licence.xmlx to C:\Program Files (x86)\Impero Solutions Ltd\Impero Server\Data

Restart Impero Service

It should now be activated

Once they fix it later go on the Impero Server and set it back to non-proxy or your actual proxy server.

I'm assuming we'll need to reactivate once they have solved the issue.

The workaround isn't working for us - with a bogus proxy set, files replaced etc. about a minute after the service is started, the license file gets updated and doesn't allow access to EducationPro. Opening Impero Server then prompts for activation again and the proxy settings has reverted to 'I do not have a proxy server'. We are on the latest release released June 17th just in case that is what's stopping the workaround from working.

We too are on 8.6.44 and I updated the Smoothwall to Maiden 37 last night thinking that was our issue but seems it's a them issue.

Strange I have 2 sites and they are both working fine since doing the proxy.

Instead of doing the proxy, on the server adding 0.0.0.0 licencing.imperosoftware.com to the hosts file in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Remove after they have fixed the problem however!

Yeah, we are having the same issue here and no one is answering the phones either!

Looks like there is an issue with the company.  I know they were massivley in the red on the lasy lot of accounts.

I rang and requested sales - phone answered and explained the situation and that this thread was showing others with the issue. They could see that there a number of tickets with the same issue and said they were going to escalate directly with managemment - not sure if it will help, but fingers crossed.

Unfortunately, editing the hosts file hasn't allowed Education Pro to work - taking the server offline and doing the same directly on the server also gets an updated license file after about a minute.

If you can quickly get into the server app after replacing the licence files try setting a bogus proxy again in the app again.

Strange the other method works for our sites.

If it wasn't for updating last night Smoothwall wouldn't have come into the equation 😂🙃. It did seem very coincidental though.

.. and the finger shouldn't always point to Smoothwall but given how everything is "cloud hosted" and the smoothwall is ultimately the gateway for a lot of schools, unfortunately Smoothwall is the first to be fired at and the tin hats to be worn 😁😂.
The smoothwalls have been rock solid as of late though - i hope i've not jinx'd it now.

Affecting us too here in North Wales - Wrexham.

All of our LA schools that are utilising Impero are having the same issue of the server asking to register again with Impero and the acitvation code.

Here we don't automatically assume Smoothwall we assume the VM server administrator may have run some updates that broke it lol.

No idea how this should even be possible, isn't the point of locally hosted software that you're not reliant on cloud services for it to work?
