Splashtop Remote Support - SOS
OLPTech replied to Techster26's topic in Network and Classroom Management
I use Splashtop SOS as well as some of the unattended features and find it extremely easy and simple to use. Definitely recommended, I can't think of any negatives on top of my head. One real positive however is you can elevate admin permission from the session if the user ran it with non-admin privileges. The pricing is way cheaper than TeamViewer and other alternatives -
We've worked round it for now (obviously will need to reactivate later when it's fixed) but we needed it now. if you have backups.... On the registration screen, set a bogus proxy so it can't talk back. Stop Impero Server service Restore Licence.xml and Licence.xmlx to C:\Program Files (x86)\Impero Solutions Ltd\Impero Server\Data Restart Impero Service It should now be activated Once they fix it later go on the Impero Server and set it back to non-proxy or your actual proxy server. I'm assuming we'll need to reactivate once they have solved the issue.

Try injection excluding aimgr.exe as well as ai.exe that's what we have and haven't seen that error message since. We had a mixture of Senso, Netsupport School/DNA and Impero at our sites but moved them all over to Impero in the end as it worked better for us and was more reliable. Mixture of primary and secondaries Thanks

I've tried adding the printers manually, tried different printers but it still does it. When it crashes from what I remember there will be log under application in event viewer and it says WebView2 runtime or something. When we were researching it before loads of people online are moaning about it as well. The only workaround we're telling people at the moment is if they need to print an email do it from the online one or use Classic. It's a pain but I know that's stopping some people from updating to the new version of Outlook

We've had this problem for nearly 2 years now, Microsoft still haven't fixed it on the New Outlook client. Yeah printing to PDF works just not actual printers.

I have more confidence this time as at least in our environment since trying the new version we hadn't had any service not starting issues at all where as got them daily previously.

Chrome - issues with latest release 149.0.7827.54
OLPTech replied to sraper's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
It is a chrome bug at the moment https://issues.chromium.org/issues/519243472 -
I'm not sure if this will be help for anyone or not but but we had this problem and used AI to help me make a Windows Service that monitors the WiFi Connection for our student devices, we kept having students come to our office with 'the laptop isn't working' where a lot of the time it was just the previous student either disconnected or turn off the WiFi , this automatically enables the WiFi again and reconnects to the specified network if in range which is set in group policy. I've attached a video of what the service does. If no group policy is set the service sits idle not doing anything until there is a configuration set. AI helped me make it and been testing it for the past 4 days and looks promising. If it helps no one else it solved our problem. If it is helpful for anyone let me know if you have any issues with it as I am still testing too. WiFi Connection Monitoring Service Wifi.mp4

Classroom Management Options
OLPTech replied to BassBone99's topic in Network and Classroom Management
We use Impero Education Pro and find it great (albeit with its bugs) -
Impero / Ed Pro Alternatives ??
OLPTech replied to mikkydoos's topic in Network and Classroom Management
We heavily use Impero EdPro and found it to be the best around, we tried other but couldn't find any others that offered everything it can do. It does have quite a few bugs and hopefully they'll get ironed out as it is frustrating but would rather have the occasional frustration than getting in multiple products to replace it. -
Try this: https://download.schneider-electric.com/files?p_Doc_Ref=SPD-PCSS_WIN_EN&p_enDocType=Software+-+Release&p_File_Name=pcss.zip This is the direct URL.

I don't want to guarantee but when I did mine I didn't need to rebuild any array, I just made sure that the drives went back in the same order as they were taken out and everything worked. Probably best to ensure you have backups beforehand though!

Hi, I had this exact same issue and they sent the following out: As per the conversation we have shipped the Back Plane. Please find the Back Plane details below. >Part Number:878930-001 >Part Desc: Hot Plug Hard drive backplane supports 4-Large Form Factor (LFF), 12 Gb/s transfer rate SAS >Qty:1 This solved our issue with those lights.

Thank you for replying! glad it’s not just us, completely agree. It happens on random devices for us too. There is no consistency in which devices do it. And restarting the PC solves it. Until the next time. I have a ticket open with Impero so the more people that mention this happens to them I’ll link this forum to Impero in the hope they find the cause if it. thanks!

Hi, I'm just trying to work our whether this only happens for us ( we have 4 completely separate environments all have this issue) or if it happens to a lot of users of EdPro but just don't report it to Impero. As if it affects multiple people I would like go to Impero to say it's not just us. We have had an issue for years where the ImperoClientSVC service refuses to start with the error "The service did not respond in a timely fashion', Impero used to blame it was corrupt net framework and repairing .net and reinstalling Impero fixes. What I found is a simple restart will kick the ImperoClientSVC service back into life but I can't work out what causes it not to start. I'm sure there is an issue with service somewhere but would just like to see if anyone else has this issue or not. I can't see it being .net corrupt when every other service on the device works, we have it across 4 different networks and between Windows 10 and Windows 11. It's annoying as its not the easiest to work out since Impero shows the device as offline you can't just know tell since the device might actually be turned off. I've had to use SCCM and try to cross reference Impero saying a device is offline to SCCM. We've also had some issues with the installer getting stuck sometimes but that's another conversion. As this is so frustrating for us, as if the client doesn't start then students can bypass all of the EdPro controls and the kid isn't going to want to restart their device to fix it. Thanks

The August 2025 update has been re-released with the issues fixed, so the registry keys / GPO is no longer necessary. Just need the new update deployed out (its the exact same KB) https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/resolved-issues-windows-11-24h2#3635msgdesc

Microsoft's official response: The August 12, 2025 Windows security update for Windows 11, version 24H2 (KB5063878), might fail to install with error code 0x80240069 when installed via Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). WSUS allows Servers with the WSUS role to defer, selectively approve, and schedule updates for specific devices or groups across an organization. Home users are unlikely to experience this issue, as WSUS is designed for use across business and enterprise environments. Workaround: This issue is mitigated using Known Issue Rollback (KIR) for enterprise-managed devices managed by IT departments. IT administrators can resolve this issue by installing and configuring the special Group Policy listed below. Group Policy downloads with Group Policy name: Download for Windows 11, version 24H2 -- Windows 11 24H2 and Windows Server 2025 KB5063878 250814_00551 Known Issue Rollback The special Group Policy can be found in Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> <Group Policy name>. For information on deploying and configuring these special Group Policy, please see How to use Group Policy to deploy a Known Issue Rollback. The August 2025 Windows security update can also be installed manually via Windows Update or the Microsoft Update Catalog. Next Steps: We are working to include the resolution in a future Windows update. Once the update with the resolution is released, organizations will not need to install and configure this Group Policy to address this issue. We will provide more information when it becomes available. Affected platforms: Client: Windows 11, version 24H2 Server: None This is the link: https://download.microsoft.com/download/162492da-0507-4f19-bcc5-add3e82467c4/Windows%2011%2024H2%20and%20Windows%20Server%202025%20KB5063878%20250814_00551%20Known%20Issue%20Rollback.msi
