We have a Bodet system it works well but was not cheap, NSoptimum did the install.

Bodet too, as said, not cheap, but it's replaced all our clocks, bells and introduced Lockdown and Tannoy.

Another Bodet here.. Not sure who did the original install (before my time), but we've done subsequent updates/additions in-house.

We use 3CX as our phone system, with a PoE-powered handset in most classrooms / offices. Those handsets are also set to listen to a broadcast address and put out on the speakerphone speaker anything that gets broadcast. We have some handsets (front office, SMT office, etc) set to be able to transmit. We've also been adding separate SIP speakers to classrooms and other areas as we found the handsets were sometimes a little too quiet. We've mostly handled the installations in-house, with some tricky bits done by the electricians.

We've recently had a 100v line system installed. A full IP based system was too expensive (we had in excess of 250 speakers to setup) We went with Bosch speakers, Cloud Amplifiers paired with ALGO 8301 for announcements/bell scheduling. We were BODET but didn't think it gave the flexibility we needed where as algo has much more flexibility for us (e.g. announcements via VOIP extension)

Currently moving from Horizon Cloud to Evonx. They did keep telling us that Evonx can do tannoy announcements through the phones.

Bodet here also.  Installed it ourselves.  Software is clunky AF but once set it just looks after itself.   Have to ensure that Multicast is enabled on your network for it to work correctly, especially if you have VLANs in place (IGMP Snooping if you use Ubiquiti switches).  We have it sitting on it's own VLAN.

Bodet, installed by Net-Ctrl. Bodet and Net-Ctrl have completed the walk arounds doing the site plan and cabling. We are a large site, 5 separate buildings. Initial install is just for the lockdown sounders. Over the next 12/24 months more will be installed to also be the lesson change over bell system. Being able to not sound change over bells in locations during exams will be a real game changer for concentration! Shameless plug, Connor at Net-Ctrl!

Looked into this a while ago, the UniFi AI horn looks interesting. Probably no where near the same level of features, compared to something like the Bodet. I am tempted to try one out though!

Another for the Bodet and i agree with everything everyone else has said. We've got it on it's own VLAN, was expensive and the controller software is awful - but does what it does.

We use LGfL/Wavenet for VoIP (Cisco UC phones) and can broadcast over our phones for an extra fee. No need to run new network cables.

 

We didn't go through with it in the end, but the quote was less than £1 per phone per month (added to the quarterly bill).

 

For schools that don't already have a tannoy system and are looking for a cheap option and have phones in every classroom already, might be worth checking if your existing VoIP system can be configured to do broadcast on speaker to all phones by just dialling a specific extension, especially if you only have a single network port in the ceiling for the AP, rather than a double socket to plug in a PoE speaker as well.
