WithoutMotive Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 About 4 days to go and they'll be back... the teachers, I mean. I think I'm ready for them but no doubt something will happen last minute and it'll all go wrong. Thankfully, not usually needed for anything during the INSET day so it should be quite relaxed and I get a free buffet lunch so it's not all bad. Then, next day, the kids start flooding in. I'm ready... are you???
DaveJ2717uk Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Doesn't time fly when you're enjoying your self:) :censored: Teachers are worse than the kids anyway. We've got two inset days before the little people come back, two days for the teacher to throw all the summer work into confusion, (what do you mean you wanted it there!!!).
Theblacksheep Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Cant believe how fast it has gone. Not looking forward to the teachers coming back properly next week, already had 1 big child throwing her demands around.
Jake Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Wonder how long it will be before a teacher comes into the office and says "Did you have a nice break?" 1
FN-GM Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Wonder how long it will be before a teacher comes into the office and says "Did you have a nice break?" I got one asking me this morning

FN-GM Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 im not to worried about the first day, its the second day back that will be the problem. All the passwords would have expired so they change them and forget!.
PEO Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 just need to get the new cache pilot working properly, but I should have that working over the weekend. If not then the old one will be used and I will work on the new one remotely during the evenings. so not to worried about that
leco Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 when does everyone return at your schools? Z Training days Monday and Tuesday - unfortunately that means I'll be in Monday as it's an IT subject. Pupils back on Wednesday.
jcollings Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Inset days Monday and Tuesday so that's delivering new staff induction and SIMS training for me. Year 7 on Wednesday so that's a mass photo session then business as usual after that. Few staff in today so had a bit of a catch up and sorted some timetable stuff out. Knock a few user accounts up tomorrow for staff and Year 12 students. Think I may have Friday off. So far a nice start but we all know how quickly that can change!
dhicks Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 when does everyone return at your schools? The children are back on Tuesday the 8th, I think. But there's lots of work to do still - just figured out our new ICT suite has 11 Ethernet sockets and 18 computers, for a start... -- David Hicks
Sylv3r Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Fingers crossed all will be well for when they return here next week. Lots of small jobs done these holidays but nothing major. They always will be niggling issues on the first couple of days back these are generally sorted no problem. All new staff are in school on Monday and I will give them their logins and a quick tour whats available to them on the network, INSET days on the tuesday and wendesday for all staff - Agenda has been put together and I have a 30 min slot demoing the new sharepoint solution to all staff on the Wednesday and finally all the kids back on the Thursday.
Edu-IT Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 when does everyone return at your schools? Z Tomorrow. Happy days!
Steven_Cleaver Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Its all the new staff I worry about I usually have to repeat training half a dozen times. I used to run training sessions the first couple of days but teachers make the worst students. We also have about half a dozen new senior staff, heads of dept\year, so will probably get them throwing their weight around until they find their feet and staff tell them the score.

Screencast and video the training - it's more work initially, but is reuseable. Plus you can post it to your VLE.
muppet Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Inset next Monday, Years 7 and 12 only on Tuesday, everyone back Wednesday. Already had "There's something wrong with my area, it keeps telling me that my username or password is wrong", this was one of the SLT!!!! Have also had a member of the teaching staff come in this afternoon with 2 pieces of software to be put on before school starts!!! He was kind enough to let me know that he had meant to give it to me before they broke up but had forgotten!!!! I can't wait until next week!
Joedetic Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 To be completely honest I've completely forgotten the details of INSET days and when kids come back. All I know is that I'm in on Monday. I know that we get training on how to use epi pens next week at some point because of a new kid with a latex allergy. I also know we have a staggered start of term. Year 7 start a few days before the rest of the years...complicated nonsense!
