dezt Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 I've mooved up the WM ladder, bought a O2 XDA Mini S off my mate for £35 with WM5 and a 512Mb memory card in it, works with my Asda mobile sim card as well, propper do.

Anyway, HTC Touch (the basic model, I should have checked what T mobile were shipping more thoroughly!) with a couple of 4GB cards. Also own a couple of iPaqs that have been donated by Senior Management bods. One has a 640x480 screen, and is great for watching video in bed without disturbing the missus and the other is currently in the loft awaiting tidying up for one of the nippers.

Good bit of kit to have, as the screen slides up to reveal thumb board making remote console access on the go a lot easier.
sammy Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Hi Guys, I been a member for a long time, but because i have worked with education in the evil land of resellers, i have not posted much over the years. Time to jump in now i feel....have any of you guys managed to find a simple mobile phone /pda device that just works...pulls mail, makes calls...thats it. I have tried so many different ones im sick of them now. None of them have the battery life they should, and all have some deficiency or other. Whats your experiences? anyone found a gem out there.
sammy Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Quick update....if anyone is thinking of buying a Palm Treo 500 with windows OS...dont do it....its a horrible little device. Sorry to be blunt guys, the software is slow and finnicky...and the active sync dies at least once a day and i have to pull the battery out the device to reset it all. Onwards and upwards...just need to find another device now.... Stay Cool People

SYNACK Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 @wellscrs - The GPRS connection in itself being open should not be costing you money as as far as I am aware data is charged for by the amount of information downloaded rather than the time. I don't personally have a Titan but you may be able to kill the data connection by holding the red call end button for several seconds while on the home screen. Otherwise have a look around for the connection manager software on the device which should let you disconnect.

But if its something you're particularly worried about theres a great, free app called gb-soft tweak. THis'll allow you o set all kinds of attributes to do with gprs timeouts. I use it to set mine to be properly always on.

I had the orig MDA Vario - dropped it down the loo one day - didn't recover from that one Got an MDA VarioII - lasted about 15 months and then started doing strange things and needed replacing. Now got a Samung Omnia and I'm really missing my customisable buttons and built in stylus but looking forward to the world of mobile T'internet with by 500M/month allowance
