cullingsh Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 We have a number of websites not working across a number of schools. Every time I ring, I get a naff holding statement, same as the on the hub - currently 'a fix will be implemented in 72 hours'. Vague, and doesn't help us or those we relay the same information to. Trying to speak to someone other than frontline support gets no-where.
TFishwick Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 There's also a vague reference on their status Portal
andy_b Posted March 13, 2024 Author Posted March 13, 2024 Same problems today. No sign of the ticket that was setup when I called. The ticket I manually raised on the portal has no updates. You'd think not being able to access M365 and DFE sites (amongst others) correctly would elicit some kind of response.
icechris Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 DfE sites are not loading for us on SBB either. Microsoft loaded slowly but is working. 1
Jonah Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 We’re seeing similar issues trying to access Smoothwalls Cloud portal from schools on SB, schools with others ISPs are fine. Does mean staff cannot review Smoothwall Monitor events, so something of a safeguarding issue! @SchoolsBroadband 2
themightymrp Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 I've had no response to the ticket I raised either. As you say, you'd think it would be treated as more urgent
SchoolsBroadband Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 (edited) Morning folks. Sorry for the late reply. I have been out of the office most of the week. Ref issues to some DFE sites and the Purple Mash issue on the status portal we believe there is an issue with content delivery network related to Amazon. We have worked closely with Purple Mash engineers and execs who use Amazon to host their services. They are investigating with Amazon as to what the underlying issue is. We don't think it's a geo ip locator issue as it's happening from various different net blocks we have when trying to access some Amazon hosted AWS services. To be clear we are not blocking nor have any routing issues to Amazon and do a heck of a lot of traffic to them. We are trying to contact Amazon also to help them resolve what we believe is their issue as is Purple Mash. The status portal will be updated shortly adding to my comment. Ref Microsoft. We are aware of a completely different issue and are working to resolve this. An update will appear on this soon. No connectivity should be completely down. If this is the case with your individual school please call the help desk as per usual. We'll keep you updated via the portal. Thanks David Edited March 13, 2024 by SchoolsBroadband
Alastairb25 Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 What exactly is Purple Mash? The Microsoft issue is a huge problem for us, connectivity to Microsoft service is critical. The response time to fix is something that will be questioned internally at SLT level as it directly affects the School day Thanks 1

LeMarchand Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 On Mon and Tues I was unable to download from MAC, but that seems to be working now. Maybe it's fixed?
woody81 Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 I've just had a response from Schools Broadband to say it might/should be resolved and to test. I can confirm the AQA website is working and I've not seen any Microsoft 365 issues in the last 30 minutes. 3
whartomt01 Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 this is working for me now too - https://services.signin.education.gov.uk/ 2

TFishwick Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Were back here too Everything working as it should I shall return to the shadows where I belong and post... nevermore... 2
sigma Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Did anyone get a proper explanation of what the problem was?
SchoolsBroadband Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 It was a routing issue from a CDN. We worked with them and also Purple Mash (an education application hosted on AWS) that initially highlighted the issue to us and fixed it a few hours ago. Thanks for your patience. Dave 4
andy_b Posted March 13, 2024 Author Posted March 13, 2024 Dfe sign in working as expected. M365 seems to be ok now - bit harder to tell

Dave Many thanks, but it was the Microsoft issue that affected us. What was the cause of that?
icechris Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 No connectivity should be completely down. If this is the case with your individual school please call the help desk as per usual. Our school has been down since Saturday. It was reported by myself at 7.45 am on Monday and the infant school also reported it in the morning as well. We are now online again but only thanks to Virgin Media Business who I called on Tuesday and have spent the last 24 hours investigating and resolving the outage. In the 48+ hours since you have been aware of the issue I have had TWO automated API messages about fixes for slow internet speeds. Not one message in response to my updates, not one message to say we're investigating or contacting our suppliers. I tried calling the helpdesk on Monday afternoon for an update and was sent to a voicemail - no-one followed up. I also tried calling Tuesday morning and first call was not answered, second call the agent tried transferring me twice to another department but then cut me off.
dapaulio Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Oddly we have had 365 issues Iv not been able to explain suddenly happen o one of my site I manage. The only site that is with schools broadband. When I saw this post I wondered if anyone else having odd interment issues with teams etc
