Hey guys and gals.

Picture this, in a school full of 10 year old Promethean activboard 78's and casio projectors - I've just been told to start fitting new interactive TVs and given a chunk of cash.

Great - however we've done some experiments with TVs and come to the conclusion that for our size classrooms, a 65 is way to small, and a 75 still looks too small, so would have to be an 85. We need 50 of them.

These appear to be pretty darn expensive at that size.

What's your best make and why?

The software is problematic as we have many gigabytes of old as heck style activinspire flipcharts around the school and as far as I can work out they aint gonna work on any new style TV, even the Promethean ones as the software is just too old!

In an ideal world I would prefer to use device-agnostic software so it will work on any interactive TV no matter what make, how small or big. Is that possible?

Cheers!

We've just installed some Viewsonic 4k 65" screens and plan to do more over the summer. The screens come with built in whiteboard software which can also be installed onto a windows laptop so a teacher can create a lesson and save it and then simply load it using either the laptop software or app on the TV if signed in. There is an option to convert file types so you may be able to convert your existing resources to the Viewsonic format.

If you didn't want to convert files you can still import PowerPoint files and possibly others into the whiteboard software or you can simply connect to the TV by HDMI or wireless presentation and use the screen that way.

We're still installing smart branded ones they seem pretty good value now if you go for the GX series, have proved to be very reliable.

We use Prowise screen, excellent equipment. Just had 45 of them delivered today.

Anything bigger than 75" and/or the wall won't hold the screen (Weight) we also purchase the iPro Wall Lift G2 so the screen can go up and down. So the screen can be set to the correct height for the user. Our rooms can have 5-7 different members of staff using it per day

We don't use the Prowise software (It does look good thou) just because 365 is enough.

Ask for a demo screen to be sent and have a play.

Prowise here

We've done all our classrooms on campus with them.

Even got a few bigun's on wheels in our rooms we use for conferences and such.

They have OPS slots in them and the OPS modules from VeryPC work a treat

Thanks all keep it coming!!!

Have been bitten hard by prowise before with chromebooks that barely lasted 3 years, and then had zero spares availability so probably won't be entertaining their screens. :-/

We have been very impressed with Viewsonic.

We go for 75" in the classrooms and 85" in the halls.

You can also get an MDM portal that allows you to remotely control the boards - including powering them on and changing the source of the screen! That had me sold!

86" is a tricky size if you want front of class interaction, height for visibility against average height teacher reaching the top, so maybe mix it up a bit depending on room, if that effects the price then it says something about the flexibility of the supplier. For agnostic software BenQ support for Google classroom natively as well as MS Azure without needing an OPS, although that route may work for some rooms where a laptop isn't needed.

as an edugeek sponsor for many years for both projection and panels, we're quite a helpful bunch and I'm sure can make it affordable with the long term commitment, I'll ask a colleague to drop his details in thread for a demo.

We have just trailed these in a school and the feedback from staff was excellent. So much so that they have just ordered 40 of the RP screens (a mixture of 65" and 75"). After using Clevertocuh for many years, these BenQ boards are so much better from my point of view. The additional software (cloud-based) for management, notification and digital signage just add to what is already an amazing bit of kit. I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for Interactive TVs.

I'm going BenQ 75" boards at the moment. They work, and for me the software that comes with any board is irrelevant as 90% of the staff won't use it anyway no matter how good it is. They're decent boards and ProActive sell them to me fitted, including cabling etc., for a good price.

thanks for the support, we've learnt along the years to keep investing in development, not just for new boards but existing, (where the platform allows) There's some exciting new UK lead partnerships & training resources in the pipeline, on top of what we did with Oak National Academy. As it sounds like your BenQ boards are online you'll get these automatically, as well as the global partnerships BenQ have.

Any questions just reach out, Chris posted in thread above and he's part of our expanding pre & post sales team.
