As thread title really : How do you remotely support Windows desktops across a trust if you can't get to site?

Any good products with educational discounts?

Following this too, we're starting to add schools to our trust. Playing with demo's of Anydesk and Splashtop as options, we've got Senso, so could add their PCs onto that.

I think I would use Quick Assist if its a large amount of desktops like that. For our school its only a small number of machines so I just shove them on Impero. I have used Zoho assist before which was OK. I know others use Datto comes at a cost though.

We use Chrome Remote Desktop. We have a "remote" account for each school and people just raise a ticket and we can hop on and help if needs be. Just works. For our Chromebooks its now built into the admin console.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Quick Assist was going EOL soon. Or am I just imagining it?

You need to push it out from the store now.

Would Quick Assist allow someone off site to share their screen with a student? and potentially allow the student to see unfiltered internet content?

No, can't screen share. Just remote onto another windows PC. It's built into windows so give it a go :)

Confused.

What would prevent a student at school attempting to "support" another student at home and thus bring up their unfiltered PC for them to see?

We use Desktop Central, client installed on all machines, manages patches and imaging too, full connectivity to devices and if you have it internet facing you can connect to machines if users are working from home or off the network and machines still get patched.

I know it’s not the sort of program I would class as Remote Desktop application but you could use impero?

We also use logMein rescue for outside of school unless the they are connected via vpn then we will use impero

Or alternatively you could use the function within SCCM and use the remote connection tool.

Hope this helps

We use ScreenConnect by Connectwise. It is a bigger product than just remote connection but is fantastic.

It also fits into a larger product to allow full management if you are thinking of heading that way.
