Quick answers please, I have to speak to staff tonight around GDPR, new servers, spring clean etc.

 

How much server storage do you currently use? Not cloud/sharepoint/onedrive etc, actual on disk on site?

 

Staff, student home drives, shared drives, MIS etc.

 

For info, we're a 1500 pupil 11-18, with a total of 140 staff.

 

Would be handy to compare and give some figures at 3.30pm!!

We’ve got slightly fewer pupils, and we have somewhere in the region of 7TB of storage for shares, home drives and MIS. That’s about half full.

Got a NAS that has a raw storage of 32TB. I share a single LUN for all our shared drives and user areas totalling 10TB. Currently 4TB remains free.

We've got 160 kids and 150 staff, we're currently at about 1.5tb of 3tb

Currently about 6TB in use, accross both LUNs. That everything on the san, not just user file storage. Total capacity is about 34TB(we were supposed to be moving sites completely this year and doubling the school in size, so I sized up this san to allow for expansion).

 

Have 480 students and about 60 or so staff.

We have about 15TB total storage (6.25TB RAID10 & 8.75TB RAID6).

 

Current shared areas cover about 3TB and current home drive areas cover about 2TB.

 

To cut down on used space, we use Deduplication.

 

We have 1200 students (limited quotas to 1GB standard, 5GB for art students and 20GB for music tech students) and 165 staff (unlimited quotas).

 

Every student and member of staff also have 1TB on their OneDrive account.

In our school we have 1500 students who all start with a 1GB storage quota which we increase on receipt of a "reasonable request" 250 (150 T&L) staff without a quota and department storage currently without a quota but I am trying to get set to 125% of their current capacity and increasable on receipt of a "reasonable request" we also market the use of OneDrive but any usage is voluntary.

 

We have two Volumes on our SAN of 2.4TB and 11.5TB these are used to host 4TBs of general servers and etc. the fileservers storage included are 7.5TB which as about 60% used (if only I get the usage to level out across the servers).

 

We have files that have not been accessed for over five years and when I investigated one that had not been accessed in the last two academic years Excel could not open the CSV because it was too big! However storage is cheap and expanding a RAID is less painful than suggesting we prune our data. The staff assure the DPO that the personal data is held in the correct silos and to be fair we haven't found anything when we do SARs.

2 NAS's that have 100TB each, old NAS that is around 50TB.

 

the 2 100TB are now being replaced, as moved to sharepoint over lockdown. With 2 hosts with 10TB local storage

I've put all cloud here but we do have some onsite storage for Application Installers, ISOs and Portable Apps which run from a share (Less than 200Gb). User data however we only have 1 very small (100Mb limit) area which we have to have for our LA data transfer software. Otherwise it's all in Office 365. Edited March 24, 2022 by robyholmes

2TB in total. 1TB for multimedia files, 1TB for application server.

Large secondary. With six multimedia IT suites in heavy use. And six IT suites for generally purpose use.

 

About 12 TB storage used by the multimedia courses. About 6 TB used by everything else T&L. About 8 TB for databases, email, and management.

 

We were starting to struggle with space just before covid ended the debate around how to move to the cloud. Turns out “you just do it”. (Though that amount of data took a while)
