kennysarmy Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 Interactive Whiteboards - are people still buying them?
Rob_D Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 Depends what you mean By "interactive whiteboards". If you mean the white touch enabled "screens" you use with a projector, the no. I didn't think they even made them anymore. If you mean purpose built, large format touch-screens like the Smart MX series, then yes.

Hi, yes I mean interactive whiteboards as opposed to interactive flat panels 1
Cat_Jam148 Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 We've got all our remaining interactive whiteboards being replaced in April with SMART interactive screens.
Zammo Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 I just had a look out of curiosity and SMART still have one product on their website M700 series Whether they are actually being made anywhere is another matter
Alex0x7F Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 We've been on a rolling replacement of ancient espon projectors/activboards, and hitachi short throws/activboards over the past few years (however halted by covid). Replaced the majority with ActivPanel Titanium 75's.
dhicks Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 I mean interactive whiteboards as opposed to interactive flat panels As mentioned above, I'd be suprised if they were still being made / sold. You could probably get interactive board(s) for free from a school upgrading to touch panels if you wanted. If it's any help, we've found the more budget-end Smart GX boards to be good value for money: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/av-multimedia-related/222323-smart-gx-series.html 1
Boredguy Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 Any new requirement we've moved to putting in the touch screens instead of boards & projectors since it reduces the issues of staff getting the light from projector in their eyes, image wobble when class above moves etc. Also the price for a reasonable size screen is sometimes cheaper than the old board/projector setup (not to mention easier cable runs since just needs 1 mains socket instead of 2 etc)
dmason2 Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 not bought any new for a while, tend to go with interative screens now rather than a projector and smartboard, especially in new rooms. Just easier to have a nice big touch tv using one HDMI cable compared to a projector and its wiring along with a smart board. Easier for the teacher too, no need to calibrate the board or have to called for clearing a filter / lamp replacement
Oaktech Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 We've bought one for a room that frequently houses pupils who would, lets say, 'actively target' an interactive panel. Everywhere else, no, interactive screens FTW.
BenQ_Royce Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 probably not new boards in the UK at least, but we still have a healthy business in projector replacements for existing boards, and ensuring we can offer as close to an IFP experience in the classroom, to a points some sites mix and match our IFPs and projectors. If anyone is at BETT and want to know more, we'll be hard to miss as usual. 1
fiza Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 We use interactive projectors and are just in the process for buying the Epson 725wi
DrBeaker Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 Not buying new, no. Keeping the ones running, unfortunately yes. Gradually replacing with interactive screens. Replacing old Projectors where badly needed. Old boards have literally been put in the skips in the past (not my doing). Otherwise I'd quite happily donate them to another school.
Jamman960 Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 We’ve replaced ours with touch screens, I attempted to give a load away without any success, ended up loading up the weee collection with them 1
