hardtailstar Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 We were given Dell Lattitude 3190 laptops Has anyone else had these and had issues with finding out the bios password? All the other passwords have worked from the DFE website but the Dell's dont. I have tried contacting DFE but no response. Can anyone PM me the bios password? Thanks

You will need to get in touch with the person that ordered them for your school, in our case it was the finance officer and they will have a login to the portal to obtain the passwords for the bios. Pretty straight forward really they end up creating you an account and that's it.

Contacted DFE weekly for the last month or so and no response. Its all been resolved now as Edugeek members have PM'd me the correct bios password. 1

HarkNowHear Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 We had quite a number of 3190s so if anyone is still in need of BIOS/localadmin passwords feel free to DM.
Sonic007 Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 These laptops are sooo slow even a snail is faster.
HarkNowHear Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 Really? We've found them really responsive and have redeployed them on-site as fully domain-built laptops for students and LSAs. We got a mix of 60/120GB SSD models, perhaps others got different.

We got a mix of 60/120GB SSD models, perhaps others got different. The 64GB models we got were MMC storage and painfully slow. Sounds like you got lucky.
Sonic007 Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 The 64GB models we got were MMC storage and painfully slow. Sounds like you got lucky. Yes they are the ones we got. Barely usable for students to type up some work. This is why I'm looking at turning them into Chromebooks to try and speed them up a little.
HarkNowHear Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 Wow. Well it it makes you feel any better, they also sent a couple of batches of Dynabooks our way, 95% of which had duff batteries. 1

bitznpcz Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but could someone please PM the BIOS key for the Dell 3190 DfE laptops? The one I have starting awz5q does not work. Thanks, Kevin
Jawloms Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 You should be able to get them yourself if you go to; https://get-help-with-tech.education.gov.uk/sign-in 1

andy_b Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 Any one have the p/w for a Lenovo 100E 2nd Gen (81M8). DFE can't help as they have no record for it
Cazab Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 Been trying to rebuild the 3910s we have and it just doesn't recognise any of the three different USB->Ethernet dongles I've tried!
MicrodigitUK Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 (edited) If you want a guarantee network adapter to work you need to enable the network stack in the BIOS/UEFI And use the official Dell USB 3 network adapter. “Dell Adapter - USB 3.0 to Ethernet PXE Boot” although if you can find another USB3 network adapter that uses the same chipset as the Dell one this will also be recognised in the BIOS/UEFI as PXE bootable. Different laptop manufacturers have different USB network chipset drivers built into there UEFI. So it’s just a question of finding the correct one that already has the UEFI network driver in the BIOS. Or just give in and by the official DELL one. Edited November 27, 2021 by MicrodigitUK 1
Boredguy Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B087QFQW6F also work perfectly fine with the Dell 3190's as long as you turn on the UEFI network stack in the bios
Embazzy Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 Could someone please email the BIOS password for the Dell 3190 our access to the portal is now gone and we don't have a record of it , we have 27 and have done nothing with them yet thanks in advance
DrCheese Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 The Dell ones had a unique bios password for every device. You'll need to get your access back.
