fiza Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Do any of you wear school branded "IT Support" shirts or polo shirts? We have always worn smart shirt and trousers unless it is school holidays when jeans and t-shirts are the norm. We provide support across 2 Schools now and this may increase as the Trust grows and I was wondering if we should go for "IT Support" polo shirts/sweat shirts. If any of you do this, where do you buy? Don't want to buy cheap and buy twice!
Andycat Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 We do, get them from GalaxyPrint in Croston. I have Russell Collection Oxford shirts, others have Polos (their choice!) then Dickies work trousers. We have Regatta coats too. 2
BlueNine Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 We wear polos with school badge and "IT Team" Stitched on them. We got them from SchoolKit about 3 years ago and no signs of colour fading or wearing out so far! 1
paulkerton Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Smart wear generally, though we do adapt it with a t-shirt underneath our blazers now and then rather than shirt and tie. Depends on the day/mood!
hardtailstar Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Shirt and tie during term time, what ever we like in holidays/development days. I'd much rather wear polos and work trousers as I am the one getting grubby etc. 1
Katy Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 We changed to black polos with the logo and "Technical Services", matching black fleeces and Dickies work trousers plus steelies. Justification was when we got asked at 30 minutes notice to move an IWB to another room and had to say "no, it will have to wait until tomorrow when we can wear scruffy clothes" (as it involved drilling into the walls etc). Plus same deal with a dead Paxton controller - now we can just jump on any job at any time. 1
rickjames Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 First place I used to work had branded polo shirts. If I were in the office (which I'm not and won't be for a long long time) then a Fred Perry polo, dark jeans suffices
robyholmes Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Polo Shirt with school name and Site Team. I work alongside premises staff so we just go as Site Team. 1
Sylv3r Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 I still wear shirt, tie and suit but my lads all wear polo shirts / T-Shirts and cargo pants. Polo / Shirts all have our school logo stitched in. We've also got a softcell coat and a more heavy duty coat once it gets a bit colder with the same school crest stitching. We buy from here: https://www.arco.co.uk/ 1
Davit2005 Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Smart Casual here, Jeans/Tshirt/Polo all OK, even shorts and jogging bottoms sometimes as long as they are presentable. If we are not in the office we are in dusty areas so it is OK and acceptable. Worked in an Independent a few years ago and had branded polo tops with trousers but they were generic and did not have my department on them.
dhicks Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 If any of you do this, where do you buy? Don't want to buy cheap and buy twice! I have a school-branded hooded top, exactly the same as the Reception years uniform except with "STAFF" written accross the back (and bigger, obviously). I find the large pocket at the front comes in very handy for storing work gloves / cable ties / hammers / etc, and it's lasted a good ten years so far. I think our school uniform was originally supplied by Harrods, so probably more on the pricy-but-long-lasting side.
Rob_D Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 Back when I first started, we were supposed to all be in shirt and tie, but went through a stage with lots of temps where no one bothered enforcing any kind of dress code. Now we're "smart with a collar" for the techs and "shirt and tie" for NWM and ANM.
TechMonkey Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Started as shirt and tie here but we lobbied for Polo shirts as similar to Katy we were getting asked to do all sorts Term time and getting fed up of mucking up good clothes. I now wear shirt and tie term time unless I know I am doing muck jobs and polos holiday. Though the last year I have been permanently in polos as we have been all over the place. The joy of COVID! 1
Sonic007 Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 Shirt and smart trousers most of the time. Used to have a tie but always got in the way. Then on days when no one is around or if working in ceilings etc then just casual jeans and T-Shirt.
thebatman Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 (edited) Used to be shirt and tie here, but after I handed them a bill for replacment clothing after being asked to do installs ect we was issed polo shirts with the school logo and ICT Support embroided on them with black jeans. Our NWM is still in shirt and tie most of the time, but if he knows he will be "on the tools" he will come in our issues polo shirt. As for brand "GILAND" with no issues at all but dont know what company we use. Edited March 31, 2021 by thebatman
