TMBS Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 Hi Has anyone had issues with these? We've only sent one home and it stopped working after a day. Contacted DFE who replied after a week saying contact your LEA. Contacted LEA who had no idea what I was on about, or any access to the support portal. Went back to DFE (who take a week to reply) who sent me a troubleshooting article, which I'd already read and told me to clear the cache on the device... which I'd already done! This has now gone on for over three weeks and the dongle is still not working. DFE support has been useless and I can't raise a ticket on the Support Portal as it only gives me the option to for laptops. In a nutshell the dongle switches on, allows you to connect but then brings up the Huawei login splash page, I've reset my cache as advised by DFE but that makes not difference. Dongle then switches off. In the meantime I'm getting it in the neck from the parent, the HOY and the Head!
Andycat Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 I've had one do this I think, luckily we're just going to swap it out then I'll have a look here. But sounds exactly the same. We ordered some more last week, and they've sent TP -Link this time
psydii Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 We've had two that do this. Similar experience with getting support.
synaesthesia Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 Gave up with the Huawei ones - next to useless or actually very useless. Just using 3rd party TP-Link ones instead - using the DFE sims or Vodafone free sims has yielded actually workable results.
chinesewhispers Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 We've only had the Huawei splash when the bandwidth limit, 20GB has been reached. Easily possible in 3 days if being abused!
AliG Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 We've only had the Huawei splash when the bandwidth limit, 20GB has been reached. Easily possible in 3 days if being abused! Yes we had this too the 20gb data was used in 3 or 4 days and that sends them to the splash screen
hardtailstar Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 We've only had the Huawei splash when the bandwidth limit, 20GB has been reached. Easily possible in 3 days if being abused! I do that in about a week on my phone in a normal world! We have had one of the DfE dongles fail too.
gh5000 Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 We were the same on the bandwidth limit. Default admin password didn't work. Waited until February and it magically worked again.
CHiLL Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 We have the Huawei and TP-Link ones. For the Huawei dongles, we only see the splash screen if we connect the directly connect the dongle to the machine via USB. If we turn on the dongle and search for the hotspot on a device, we can join it using the SSID and password printed inside, above the battery and it doesn't take us to the splash screen.
