Is anybody giving media students Adobe cc licences during lockdown? We have a parent kicking off saying that's what we should be doing. Lockdown v1 Adobe did free access to students at registered establishments but that ended in July.

Apparently a local college would have given them out. The only thing I can think of is.a named licence. Not sure if you have to buy them in multiples of 25 like the device licences.

I had the pain/joy of phoning and emailing Adobe about this. There's currently no news giving CC away again like in lockdown 1 (Could always change). We been told to buy K12 licenses, 500 unit minimum purchase. Also needs a separate Adobe console if you're running ETLA license.

Anyone purchased the standard Adobe Accounts for students? i.e. the standard subscription for teachers/students?

That’s where I’m being encouraged I’m struggling to justify it.

Had thought of this but not sure we'd be able to do it

We've been quoted £4'ish + VAT (But min order is 500 users). We're putting the order in today/tomorrow. Any different I'll let you know.

Per year. I mean its not cheap, but it is it is in the same ball park as the old site licence going back to the macromedia suite days, but you get automatic updates and some cloud storage and the ability for kids to use it during a pandemic (if they have computers powerful enough) Edited by psydii

No, that's the yearly cost!

"For the Named User licences, I’ve attached a quote for you based on the numbers provided. Please note that the minimum count for user licences is 500 licences, including when adding in additional licences (so sometimes it is best to cater for a bit of leeway). The pricing on the attached is for a 12 month subscription too, please ignore the ‘monthly cost’ in the SKU description."

The K12 license at £4.21 per user is great value when you compare it to the HE license model for courses above ISCED level 3 which comes in around the £70 per user mark with a minimum purchase of 250 users.

Do we have anything to clarify this? I can't find anything publicly?

Apparently he quoted an internal memo. Just had a convo with him where he was back peddling furiously lol

That’s a shame. It would have been really helpful.

Hi Mark

Sorry for the slow reply. The news about it going free again delayed us putting the order in.

We ordered Adobe K12 lunchtime yesterday, had to create a new Adobe Console (Link sent by reseller), the order was processed by Adobe/reseller by 10am today. Configured and tested by 1pm today. We should be making it live to students late tomorrow morning after double checking everything is good to go.

£4.20 + vat (Min 500)

Sorry @Rizzo seems we were led down the garden path

Last Comment:No problem Sir. I was in touch with the team at the backend that provides the free access and i was looking for the option to get these license to be added for the Grace but i have been informed by the backend team that this is only applicable for the US based K12 institutes. I checked if they will gonna roll that out any soon but they are not aware of any initiatives for extension of this offer to the UK. This is applicable for every school available in the UK.

I am afraid the only workaround for this at the moment is to get in touch with your Account Manager who will be able to give you more insight into this if the free access will be again given out to the UK clients. Also for the time being you can switch to the named user licenses from the device licenses so that the students can use it from the home.

So if I understand this right, Adobe are offering it only for US customers? If so that's really disappointing and I'll be hunting down my account manager for a stern chat soon!

Just thinking exactly the same thing. I'm not surprised though. I am very disappointed.
