Netwacky87 Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Hi all, Anyone got ABTutor v9 and anyone seeing their clients constantly disconnecting and have to restart PC or service to get it working again? Clients drop like flies! Thanks Mart
mikeprice Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 I had this many years ago - obviously on a much older version of AB However - running ipconfig/flushdns would often make it find them again it was actually not a problem with AB - but a problem caused by dodgy wifi connection between laptops and the server - hence they dropped their DHCP address and got a new one - but AB/the teacher computer - still had the old IP address try the flushdns command - if that fixes it (even if only for a while) then you have a network problem maybe
vyperz Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 (edited) Yup , we've got 9.3.2 and it loses PCs from groups, disconnects when you are connected to them .. seems to be worse than the last release Edited October 1, 2020 by vyperz

kennysarmy Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Does anyone SYNC their AD groups to ABTutor? We've had issues where it does n't always pick up PC's and it can be random from day to day when it sycns which ones might be missing - we've ended up setting the SYNC time to 0 minutes once it's right to stop confusion. Also we SYNC our Users and this is also failing with an error "Error: C:/ProgramData/ABTutor/Server/state/database/core.sqlite3: FOREIGN KEY constraint failed Unable to fetch row" which apparently is because there is a user it's previously sycn'd who is no longer in AD - but this is not the case...so that's also annoying!
Netwacky87 Posted October 1, 2020 Author Posted October 1, 2020 Sadly, not the same software it once was!
AJWhite1970 Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 AB v7 was the last stable version, anything after that has just been beta software at best...
maxrebo Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 AB v7 was the last stable version, anything after that has just been beta software at best...I agree V9 hasn't been great at all, since they went to a server client setup weve had lots of complaints. It still has to be one of the best software purchases I've ever made though!. Saved me so much time when I first started this job.
3s-gtech Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 V8 is okay, though the client sometimes needing a service restart to connect can be annoying. Not seen anything that makes me want to move to v9.
AJWhite1970 Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 I'm still using v7 controlling 400 Win 10 pc's. Occasionally gets stroppy if I'm elevating a prompt but other than that works fine
2097 Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 (edited) We have had the following issues Original v9 was unusable without a SSD They then changed something and it sorted that out , and it mostly works ( we also now use SSD's) problem i am having still is... If a machine is left on for more than a few days, It will show offline ( we have some machines on constant for VPN/Remote desktop) Also the server software , Starts to slow down randomly.. It then causes the AB teacher software to crash. I have to reboot the 2019 server to get it working ok again. Another sad thing is with it being server based i cant now turn the machines on with WOL , but i suppose you could say thats the limitation of my meraki switches . With v7 because it was non server based the teacher could turn on their classroom machines because they were on the same vlan. On the plus side.. The management of v9 Groups / Users / classrooms is SOO much better than v7 Love the fact they just use their AD usernames to login and you can assign a class that way another thing i like is as we use RDS , it shows all sessions on them servers. Im pretty sure in v7 it just showed a blank login screen ! We have just been sent the latest beta 9.3.3. . Hopefully it solves the crashing issue ( which is my main problem as it seems quite random) Edited October 8, 2020 by 2097
victory2015 Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Sadly after many years we moved to Netsupport recently.

Ours is server-based and I have each group to WOL each day - works well Aruba/HP switches
Jaan Posted October 20, 2020 Posted October 20, 2020 There was i bug in the last version that affected WOL. It's been sorted in the latest release. We were affected by it. Works now
