You say "you haven't used time travel", but you make no mention of "will use time travel at some point in the future".

 

So while your statement may well be true in isolation, it's not necessarily the whole truth is it....?

And - clearly - we all trust all time travellers who are members - genocidal aliens or not

 

so it will all be OK

Hadn't seen this until now. I'll go with 222.

How do you count quantum eggs that are in superposition? Or do you perhaps get two guesses as you can't technically observe them directly?

No he wouldn't!

 

Schrodinger's Cat is a thought experiment pointing to the absurdity of applying quantum mechanics to macroscopic objects via a misinterpretation of the "state only determined when observed" maxim.

 

People (including highly educated people, including many contemporaries of Schrodinger and Einstein!) seem to think that "observation" in QM implies a conscious observer, as in a human being taking a look in the box.

 

No, "observation" here means a quantum particle interacting with something (e.g. a photon, an electron, pick your particle).

 

In reality, the Schrodinger experiment would end up with the radioactive atom interacting with the Geiger counter or whatever, thereby collapsing to a defined state and (not) killing the poor cat.

 

It's a historic irony that the thought experiment has become "an easy way to explain how weird QM is" when it was actually pointing at "QM isn't that weird, you're just misinterpreting things".

 

 

EDIT: Unless of course you are arguing that eggs themselves display quantum superposition! ;)

Well if you are going to be picky - there are no eggs on display - some are in boxes and some are in the wrapper - until the wrapper is removed so you can see the egg inside it could be empty and held together and in shape by - errrrr - magic

 

or could contain something other than an egg

 

so the number could be zero

 

except that we are now being told it was 191

 

so presumably no magic was employed to hold the wrappers together

Well EduGeekers, that's the competition closed I'm afraid! So if you didn't get chance to enter then we're pretty sure a new competition will be hatching soon for you all...

 

Back to this one though and there can only be one winner. We are eggstatic to announce that the total number of eggs was 191 and although nobody correctly guessed that number, the closest person was...

If I could go back into the office to count them for you I would, but unfortunately team Marketing is working remotely due to Government restrictions. So we're not able to film a video! You'll just have to take our word for it :D
