We use Chromebooks for teachers. We have a similar display setup to you with the Chromebook as one screen and then a second monitor and a projector/large display. We use deliberately cheaper USB-C hubs that have HDMI and VGA but as they are cheaper they split the signal and clone the displays. This means we have the Chromebook display which is extended to the monitor which is also duplicated to the projector.

I'm having a problem with ZTE on a batch of Chromebooks. This is the first time we've tried to use zero touch enrollment and I'm not having any luck. The devices have all been pre-provisioned but when I start up a Chromebook it doesn't automatically enrol. If I go through manual enrollment the Chromebook marries up with the pre-provisioned record so all the info seems correct. I hope I'm just missing a step and any help would be appreciated as I'd rather not have to manually enrol all the devices!

I've been looking for something like this for use with our Chromebooks. Will definitely be trying it out with staff.

We have a number of these in circulation running Flex. Not had any come back to me in months so I'm just assuming they are running fine! I think most of the bugs had been sorted by v103 so stable for a long time.

We do something a little similar. We use Chromebooks for staff and we plug them into usb-c hubs. From the hubs we go VGA to the monitor and HDMI to the projector. If you choose slightly cheaper hubs, the hub acts as a splitter mirroring the VGA and HDMI. We needed this as Chromebooks can't mirror 2 displays and extend the third.

Hi all, I'm assuming I'm missing something simple but I can't find where to assign till layouts to different times of the day. For a long time we have had a single till layout with everything on it. We're expanding the menu and I now want a separate till layout at break time and lunchtime. I've created the two new layouts but I can't find where I assign them to the different times of the day! We're running version 8 of the software and I can see options like 'menu scheduling' and 'menu level allocation' but they don't seem to do it. Any help would be appreciated before attempting to get in touch with Civica support.

Not quite the same as you (we do Chromebooks), but Freedom Technology https://freedomtech.co.uk/ I think does what you need. Ordering portal for parents 3 year repair cover (they've repaired hundreds of smashed screens for us over the years and never a quibble). As we do Chromebooks they open and enrol each device, not sure what services they might offer for windows devices. Parents get the choice of a single payment or spreading the cost over 1-3 years. If a parent stops paying or the student leaves and they return the device the cost is covered too. It works well for us, the majority of students opt in and we have a bank of bookable Chromebooks used by students who opted out. As for school controls, if it isn't wholly owned by the student they have no choice but to have it managed by the school. Once paid for they can request that we remove management but the device is no longer allowed on the network so it becomes essentially useless in school. Very few have ever requested this.

We get this every now and again, clearing the profiles from the admin console sorts it out. I think it's some sort of profile corruption but never had the chance to investigate properly.

We are trialing fslogix profiles. Windows acts like they are local profiles but they are redirected to an individual virtual HD that gets mounted at logon. We're using it to help with our migration to only use Google drive. The idea is to mitigate the risk of a student logging off before files have synced (as the temp files will move with the Fslogix profile and sync the next time they logon). As windows sees it as a local profile it should work for you. In my testing Adobe apps seem to work fine I haven't paid much attention to apps as they all just work.

Similar to others, we create and suspend accounts based on MIS data. In our case Bromcom can do Google account provisioning but we find it too limited and there is no AD creation. So we have a custom in-house solution that pulls from Bromcom and creates accounts in AD and Google and adds to relevant groups which then sends emails with account details to appropriate parties. The same process checks and suspends/disables accounts based on MIS leaving date.

I've made some progress and I've got a support case open with Google. I too have found cloudready works but as they will auto update to flex when v100 goes to stable in April I want to get flex working. Using an installer with v101 on works better. It installs and creates the correct UEFI entry (unlike my original v100 installer which I had to recreate the UEFI entry after it installed). My test devices will eventually boot if I leave them long enough (can boot loop for 10 minutes sometimes). Once booted they work as expected although performance is a little underwhelming. I have them enrolled and applying policies. It's just the unreliable booting! Must be fixable as it's rock solid with cloudready. We're a Chromebook school so these are only of use if we can get flex working.

These devices will only UEFI boot, secure boot and TPM are already turned off in order for it to install at all.

We got a batch of the Dell 3190's from DFE the other day and I'm trying to put Chrome OS Flex on them but I'm getting the following error after it installs and I reboot them: Invalid image Failed to read header: unsupported Failed to load image: unsupported startup_image() reported unsupported I've tried a different USB drive with the same result. I can only guess it's a bios setting that needs changing coupled with another install attempt but I don't know which setting(s) to try. Can anyone who has successfully done this point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Brilliant prize! I'd blow the minds on my kids who are pestering me to get them started on the PC gaming rollercoaster! Haven't had a decent machine at home for years!

We would have preferred Chromebooks but only the Dell's were available. We'll stick chrome OS flex on them and run them as Chrome devices. (Good test of flex, only got it on a couple of test devices currently)

We've had this yesterday and today. Different models, different OS revisions (all in the 98 range), different OUs. Only effecting one 2 one devices as shared Chromebooks have data wiped at logoff. We're just clearing profiles from the reset option in the admin console to sort it currently. If it becomes more widespread we might just do a mass reset on each affected OU.

I like the fact they are removing the licence costs for cloudready / flex we've expanded our usage over the last couple of years and this will help with our tight budget. The possibility of android apps in the future would expand opportunities too.

Played around with this a while back, IIRC the data remains in the roaming profile location but is not accessed by Chrome. Essentially a blank slate for the user.

We've done exactly what you want to do. Chromebooks with damaged screens in kiosk mode running Chrome sign builder pointing towards Google slides which is shared with those that need to edit and update. We also have other screens pointing to internal webpages with embedded content ( let's us use a Google slide presentation and have other content like the date and time) Has worked flawlessly for us for years.

In testing I haven't seen the same behaviour. On my test setup I've just added 2000 passcodes and the regex is complete. I copied it into a doc and the word count comes back at 2000. Tried a few codes and they all work for me.

Does executing a file in a compressed folder decompress it to a temporary folder somewhere? If so applocker rules would need to be applied to the temp folder.
